Does this mean someone doing a clerkship wouldn't qualify?

I think you don't qualify while you are a clerk, but qualify if you go into public interest immediately after clerking.

I know that you wouldn't qualify during the clerkship, but the wording also doesn't say whether it would be possible to qualify afterwards.

Anyone received their loan package yet? I think they said that we should all have them by April 30th right?... Or maybe it's just more complicated for me due to my history as CFO at Goldman Sachs. I hope this wont affect my credit history...

Can anyone make head or tail of the academic calendar?

https://www.law.northwestern.edu/academ ... r/?yr=2010

It seems off to me. Why would orientation week be from a Friday to a Friday? Wouldn't it be the 23-27? And why would they say Labor Day is the 4th? Also, are we on semesters or quarters? Confused. TIA

I can't explain the orientation week, but it is semesters.

Most of the rest of NU is on the quarter system, which is why those dates would be listed, but yes, the law school is on semesters.

I don't know about the August/Sept dates.

I found last year's schedule online...http://www.law.northwestern.edu/orienta ... eJune5.pdf

It looks like there were some events on Saturday and Sunday, but the main program started on Monday.

Thank you guys! It's going to be here before we know it. I was just handed my work schedule through the first week in June and realized I'm going to have to start thinking about when and how to give notice... they have no idea about this law school thing.

Two weeks prior to when you want leave.

Check your HR's policy on this sort of thing. The general standard is two weeks notice but some employment contracts may have a longer time period for standard notice. My company, for example, requests (although is lenient on the policy) four weeks notice.

I gave my notice last week. I'll be done at the beginning of June!

Is it necessary to attend the orientation week from Fri, Aug. 20- Fri, Aug. 27? What does this week consist of?

I think you have to attend orientation. But one of the current students could probably answer that question better than I can.

Admitted Students Page says: Orientation is mandatory for incoming students. All students must be on campus by Monday, August 24.

It is fine. You meet a bunch of people, do some random acclimating to law school stuff, and then go out drinking.

Last year they also offered a week-long law study skills kind of thing workshop. My impression is that that was totally worthless, however, as far as doing well in law school is concerned. I guess if you are really keen to meet people and simply can't wait you could do it, but you have 3 years of law school, tacking on another week seems kind of pointless to me.

I was thinking everyone going to NU is either a lurker or an active poster on TLS so we get all our info here.
