Some schools give out grants for PI work, does NU?

So is your plan to just try and get a part-time job over the summer? I hadn't really put much thought into what would happen budget-wise over the summer, especially after 1L.rayiner wrote:If you do unpaid work, you should have plenty of time to do something else besides.

I plan on "falling" inside Jewel or Dominicks.

I had a boss who was an assistant manager at a store when he heard an old couple one aisle over plan out a slip and fall. Moral of the story: make your extortion plans silently.Desert Fox wrote:NayBoer wrote:So is your plan to just try and get a part-time job over the summer? NU gives grants for PI work through SFPIF.

It sounds like there's a business opportunity here.
I'm renting 5'-by-5' rooms in my cardboard house for $500 a month. Utilities (candles and a shovel) are included. The house is conveniently located in downtown Chicago.

Desert Fox and NayBoer get a crank-powered radio as a bonus if they sign a lease by May 31.

Can't afford, unless it comes with free parking space for my shopping cart.dudester wrote:It sounds like there's a business opportunity here.

You got yourself a deal. But I'm not responsible for items left in your shopping cart.

I'm definitely going to need some private loans to cover.
It's a 9-month budget. That's ~$1,000/month for rent and $300/month for food. Very doable.
I don't have my little leather binder thing in front of me, but isn't there a "personal expenses" line item in the student budget?
I thought it worked out to $1,300 or so for rent and utilites and about $500 a month for everything else (from the personal expenses and transportation items).

Re: Northwestern Law Class of 2013
Hey guys! I'm going to be joining you. I was just offered a full ride scholly, and NU is one of my top choices. Although I got into some awesome schools, I REALLY didn't want to leave Chicago due to my kids being in school here, and now I don't have to.
Hard to say no to a top tier law school for free in any case.
So, I'm going to withdraw from everywhere else over the weekend. Keep me in the loop for any gatherings and events! Congrats, all, and see you around Streeterville!

Probably not. I have to work every Saturday, and no one there knows I'm going to law school... SHHHHH... But I went on a campus tour, and to a workshop in May of last year. When is ASW?

OK, just got waitlisted today. I applied late and didn't do the interview, so I figured I was an automatic rejection,
3.57/170 (multiple LSAT-taker)
Anyone know how many people they let in off the WL/how many people they put on it? Thanks and congrats to everyone who's in!

Wow, congratulations. A full ride to a T14 in your home city? Every 0L parent is seething with jealousy.natalie123 wrote:Hey guys! I'm going to be joining you. My binder is at home, but the .xls from FinAid budgets less than $13k for room and board, which would only cover $1300 rent for less than 10 months.scribelaw wrote:rayiner wrote:NayBoer wrote:And of course $12,376 is hardly enough to live on. I'm mostly just concerned that I'll be able to afford the three months the loans don't cover. Worried that I'll have a job during that period that pays enough.
I'm also skeptical at $1k in rent. McClurg looks like it starts out beyond that, even for studios.

At the very least, I expected you to make up some monster stats in that other thread, Desert Fox. Consider my summer housing offer withdrawn.

Outsmarted by an "fund-managing", Xbox-playing, Twinkie-eating unemployed bozo. For shame!

Unfortunately, that means NayBoer's rent just went up.

Re: 1k in rent. McClurg is expensive. Onterie is under 1k, so is 860 DeWitt. If you're willing to take the bus 15 min (free bus and train pass is included in tuition), plenty of places in range that are under 1k.

How is the cardboard box zoned? If it's mixed commercial-residential I'll start a home taxidermy business and sell stuffed squirrels and pigeons that my cat kills. No refunds, no exchanges, no exceptions.dudester wrote:Drew2010 wrote:dudester wrote:At the very least, I expected you to make up some monster stats in that other thread, Desert Fox.
