Is everyone coming in for the admitted students day?

Not sure. Although it'd be worth it to get a look at a class (my October visit was too brief to see a class in progress) I need to set up an apartment. April seems way early to look for a place I won't use until July or August, so I'd have to do a second trip in mid summer. Not sure the budget allows for two trips, especially with moving expenses (probably going to drive, rather than buy a new car or go carless).

Now that I can't immerse myself in the minutiae of LSN and acceptance data, I'm interested in surrounding myself with Northwestern employment data. Suddenly much more interested in the exact details of OCI. I'll settle for learning Chicago neighborhoods from wikipedia.

For housing, what are the best places? It seemed like it wouldn't be too hard to find a high-rise in the loop, and it seemed like it'd be ~20 minutes walking time to campus. Could also look in the opposite direction, not committed anywhere. Mostly looking for a place not too far away that has a parking spot. Needs to fit 2 people and a cat.

I'll be there. I come to Chicago often, and they give a travel stipend for those who come further than 300 miles (could be wrong about that figure).

I'm curious to know how many ED'ers will be going to admitted students day. I'll probably be there.

i'll be there in the fall! i was wondering, do we have to contact each school that we've applied to and withdraw, or can we just do nothing and enroll at NW? also, do you guys know what they base their financial aid decisions on? my income this past year? gpa/lsat? and where are you guys planning on living? downtown, or a little farther away like lincoln park/ wicker park etc?

You have to email each school to withdraw your apps..I'm planning on living in gold coast area with some friends from UG (hopefully they have an open room for me come summer). I'm not too familiar with the city but I remember the building was right next to sutton hotel and across from some higher end bars. Anyone know if this is within walking distance to campus or if other students live in this area? I heard streeterville was a popular place to love as well..

P.S thank you to all the splitters who were accepted..left some room for reverse splitters like me!

Did you do ED? I guess you have to withdraw if you did. That's a rule. But if not you don't have to. Its just nice to for all the other people waiting. From my experience with financial aid they don't really do it based on need mostly on merit. I had a really extreme case and all they could offer me is to defer for more money. There website says they do I combination. You have to turn in your stuff and your parents info too. And other schools did it strictly need base. Other people might have different experiences. I'm gonna live in streeterville. I'm from the south and not used to the cold so I'd like to be right near the school. I visited at the admit day last yer. It was the first day of April and it was snowing....

Hey all. So I haven't heard back yet, since I'm RD, but I was curious about apartments in the area and was browsing around online. I came across one building (or I guess it's actually 2), and upon visiting their website my computer freaked out with all sorts of malware crap. So, just a heads up - if you are looking for apartments in the area, DO NOT visit 1350northlakeshore.com.

The apartments look really nice, but I suggest finding info about it on other websites.

Has anyone received a welcome packet or anything in the mail? I saw on the admitted students website that the "Admitted Students Binder" is now viewable and has some interesting stuff in it.

Hooray, welcome everybody! Congrats for you ED'ers and also those who found out today.

Can't wait to meet in this cold and very windy city (it's above freezing for the first time since Xmas today....those of you in more temperate areas had better buckle up!)

Does anyone know what numbers you need to be competitive for scholarships/grants? I know that they say it's a case by case deal, but I was wondering if there was any sort of framework in terms of numbers. Also, do ED applicants traditionally get less, since the need to entice us to attend is lessened (or rendered nonexistant) due to our binding ED agreement...

I'm not expecting a penny.
