Current students have yet to get an email. :|

"The university's Board of Visitors met on April 30, 2010 and approved the 2010-2011 Tuition and Fees. Subsequently, the university?s Committee on Financial Aid met and approved the Law School?s cost of attendance (COA) budgets. Nonresident tuition for the Class of 2013 for the 2010-2011 academic year is $47,500 and resident tuition is $42,500. Nonresident COA is $67,700 and resident COA is $62,700. More details can be found here: http://www.law.virginia.edu/html/prospe ... uition.htm "

The way I read this, it means that particular figure only applies to class of 2013. I guess . . .

Ha! Class of 2011 and 2012 get to pay less than 2013.

Lame.

Yeah I think we were all expecting out of state to be 45,xxx. Still those, what is a few thousand more dollars of crippling debt at this point? We're all acquaintances here!

Virginia is for lovers.*

*Except for interracial lovers and gay lovers.

The only negative attribute about Virginia I can come up with.

Guess no state is perfect

Haha so as a fellow wolverine you'll probably understand why I thought that anything would seem low after 4 years of out-of-state Michigan tuition...
... But sadly, it turned out to be much, much worse!

I thought paying 42K a year was absurd, but law school is making that look like a bargain. You get to see obama speak this year at graduation? I still can't believe it has been a year since I graduated, feels like yesterday

How much was the tuition for 2009-2010? I wanted to know how much it increased...

Edit: never mind. Found it. http://www.web.virginia.edu/IAAS/data_c ... _graph.htm

A 9% increase in cost for a service whose monetary value is at best stagnant somewhat flies in the face of the economic principles of a free market. But I have no beef with UVA for doing it. Don't hate the player, hate the game. This is why I have the opinions I do about educational lending.

What if the service was undervalued?

I've already emotionally prepared for this number though because it is exactly the amount that I was awarded in Finaid. I don't know why I would expect anything different . . .
