My last post on this matter.

If you wait to buy E&Es (which are over 600 pages long) until after school starts, you really won't have time to do as much with them.

There are going to be people who end up buying AND reading them before, whether or not people admit to that. They will have a much easier time grabbing on to concepts and can do only practice problems during the year if they wish.

Don't take my word for it, check out this article. http://www.top-law-schools.com/success- ... chool.html
If you want to do some work, but not an outrageous amount, I would start by reading the Examples & Explanations books before school.

To each his own.

I credit you with finding the picture. I just thought it funny to respond to the guy who asked what I was planning to do. Thanks for the reference, bro. Isn't that what ppl say down in Charlottesville?

It can make sense to buy the E&Es over the summer, though. The used ones are usually cheaper since there's not high demand during the summer.
IDK. Like vamedic, I bought the E&Es for Torts and CivPro before school began. Both were probably a waste of money. So much depends on your professor's teaching style. And if your professors is really good (as my CivPro prof was) you shouldn't need a supplement, period.

While we're on this topic. Maybe this has been answered somewhere and I missed it, but in yoru experience would you say there are many students at UVa such as the type you mentioned above. (raising their hand every class, ect.)

I'm definitely going to be a closet gunner. Probably at Chicago though. 8)

Question: is there such a thing as a "bomber"? Like someone who keeps their mouth shut for most of the semester then just explodes one class, asking 27 questions and telling stories about their married uncle getting sued for sexual harassment by an older male coworker?

Just curious.

What about a knifer? Who says stuff that isn't that bad at first but slowly wears away at you throughout the semester?

Also: what about a sniper? Someone who says something perfectly crafted so it only annoys a particular person in the class?

I've heard Chicago is "Gunner Central".

The irony of the gunner thing is that the typical t14 admit was probably considered a total gunner in UG.

Though I was a silent, non-obnoxious gunner. I'll probably be one in law school too...
I transferred out, but one of my UG institutions if you knew how to read you were a gunner.

I think that's a good point by YCrevolution. I don't think "gunner" necessarily means studying hard and taking school seriously, just being annoying about it through providing dumb comments in class. Do people criticize "closet gunners"?

"gunner" is all about the guy who's visibly trying to make his mark, and annoying everyone else in the process. "closet gunner" is kind of an oxymoron (or an ironic way to refer to the masses who are actually doing what they're supposed to).

So last night I ran into a large contingent of people who I went to high school with and during all of the "hey how are you, what are you up to now?" conversation I kept telling everyone that I was headed to UVA in the fall for law school. I guess I officially belong here now.

When I did that, they asked me 'Isn't that a... public school?' Now I just say I'm in law school. If pressured, I say I'm at William & Mary.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
