Re: Michigan Class of 2013
So it looks like it's going to be Contracts and Torts for us Summer Starters. I'm not sure if Contracts during the first semester of ls is a good thing or a bad thing, but I guess in 4 months we'll find out...

Having JJ White at 8 a.m. your first semester of law school is the way to have the "true" 1L experience!JRMjr wrote:I emailed my friend who's a 1L.... guess we will find out soon enough. FWIW, JJ White is a beast so I'd hope for White as prof
Though this year's people didn't have nearly the number of awesome stories my year did. I think we had more LLMs for him to make fun of.

Hmmmm.....what are the chances that our summer start schedule doesn't have any days that start earlier than 11 AM? I can dream I guess.

Truth! JJ at 8am will definitely keep you interested and awake. Loved the guy, from one summer starter to another. You will truly enjoy his class, torts on the other hand... is it Clark again?Alexandria wrote:Having JJ White at 8 a.m. your first semester of law school is the way to have the "true" 1L experience!JRMjr wrote:I emailed my friend who's a 1L.... guess we will find out soon enough. If you do have JJ, no. I believe his Contracts is always 8 AM.blue16 wrote:Hmmmm.....what are the chances that our summer start schedule doesn't have any days that start earlier than 11 AM? I can dream I guess.
Weird about Logue... I've never heard of him teaching Torts. He's a Tax guy. But he is supposed to be a very good teacher.

8 am is the way to go! Early classes means freedom to read and hangout later in the day

At least you'd have a good story...beamsmehome wrote:I liked the idea of it, too. I've also never had problems with roommates. I think there was at least someone who mistakenly selected summer or fall and was accepted for summer, who was trying to get switched into the fall. Which are you looking at?washingtonian wrote:is anyone inquiring about switching from fall to summer, or summer to fall?

I was still able to do it the first semester of UG, but after that, no chance in hell. I created my schedule to specifically avoid anything before 10 or 11 am...bighead715 wrote:shit...i havent woken up before 8 am consistently since high schoolAlexandria wrote:If you do have JJ, no. i switched-- it was really easy-- i just called admissions who asked me to outline my reason to switch from summer to fall in an email and they approved it. i will say this, michigan's administration has been the nicest and most accomodating that i have interacted with this cycle.starstruck393 wrote:I think there was at least someone who mistakenly selected summer or fall and was accepted for summer, who was trying to get switched into the fall. Are you talking about the Northwood apartments (university operated) on North Campus? I haven't met anyone who liked living there.bighead715 wrote:alrightey - just went up to A2 and checked out some complexes. can anyone attest to nob hill, hidden village, northwood, and woodbury?
I know some people living in Woodbury that like it--its probably the most convenient location of those 4 places.
I always recommend to people that they should live on campus somewhere. It's much easier to be social, to get to class, etc. It is harder to find cheap housing though. Let me know if you want a list of property management companies on campus, or if you have any questions. I went to UM for undergrad, and now I'm a 1L, so I've gone through the hunt a few times.

Re: Michigan Class of 2013
Wait, so what are some name(s) of complexes or areas/neighborhoods NEAR campus that WOULD be recommended? I'd be splitting a 1BR or 2BR with my S.O.
Compared to what we pay now, I'm sure anything will seem like a "bargain"...so I'd like to get as close and comfy as possible.
