Yeah, mine are certified. They also have my P2P money but not my Texas Equalization Grant.

My GRAD Plus doesn't even have the blue "loan details" next to it yet.

Mine neither. Shoot me a PM or reply to this post when you get the loan details so I can check mine. I've had some trouble with them this semester and I'd like to be sure mine get certified with the rest of the bunch.

Make sure you have gone to studentloans.gov to have your credit re-checked and to sign your MPN for this year.

Yeah, I've taken care of all that. Apparently, they are just taking their sweet time with some students and not others. I don't know if the approval list is alphabetical or what, but it's a little unnerving to think that some students already have paid tuition and refunds and others haven't even been certified yet.

Kal, I'm jealous, but happy that you didn't have to go through 9 kinds of hell to get your finaid in order this time around.

It can't be alphabetical or I'd be close to last.

And maybe they just got tired of my incessant harping, bitching, and haranguing them to do their jobs and decided to actually do them.

Now if the refi on my house will just go through as easily...

Does anyone other than Kal show their gradplus loans as being certified? I still don't have the loan details link and I'm beginning to get annoyed.

Mine aren't just certified, they already processed my refund. If you haven't even gotten them certified, I would be on the phone with Financial Aid right now.

I just called the assistant director of finaid, but had to leave a message. Go figure.

Chrisokc, if you could chime in it would help me to know whether I am the butt of a mistake or if there are other students in the same situation. Let me know if you're showing certified when you get a chance.

Talked to FinAid today. I did my MPN for GradPlus and all the necessary docs on 8/1. He said it takes about 2 weeks to get the stuff from the government then SMU will certify it. After that, another 1-14 business days to process the refund. I am going to call back Wednesday to see if they have my MPN yet.

It doesn't take 2 weeks. The government states that our school will be notified in 48 hours of the approval.

Did you speak to someone in enrollment services or did you talk to Stan Eddy? Enrollment services will literally make shit up just to get you off of the phone.

Is there no "loan details" link next to your gradplus/alt eligibility in access SMU?

My PLUS is not certified, and it doesn't have the "loan details" online. However, I made the huge mistake of merely filling out the FAFSA back in February without going to studentloans.gov run my credit. Thus I was only approved last Wednesday. I'm not expecting anything any time soon.

I called today and was told that those of us without certifications are likely to receive them today.

I'm surprised all of you gunners didn't make bank this summer at your biglaw gigs to pay for your last year of school.

Should I be offended that I'm entering my third year and have yet to receive a Tuition Equalization Grant?

Is our graduation ceremony really from 6:30 to 10 o'clock at night? I've never heard of a graduation ceremony that didn't take place in the morning or early afternoon.

My ceremony (2011) was awful. Attanasio (sic) gave two speeches, Rick Perry gave a speech, the keynote speaker (some guy from Africa) gave a speech, SBA president, Professor Kahn (after receiving an award)....it took forever. Not to mention, professor McKnight led the students in and out of the ceremony (20 min walk each time)....although that aspect was a pretty cool memory. Also- parking and traffic sucked.

We did dinner before- it was super early and rushed. I opened graduation presents after - everyone was tired from the super long ceremony.

We're I to do it again, I would rent the outfit, go take pics with my classmates and profs before the ceremony, then bail and have a nice dinner with family & friends. You should all seriously consider doing this.
