Laptops
I need to get a laptop before the Fall. I saw that Villanova has a Dell purchasing program and that you can get the computers serviced on campus. Anyone know if there is a discount and if the computers are worth buying? If it is going to save me some money but be an outdated it wouldn't be worth it to me. Thanks!

I don't know if it's typical, but I have had a TON of trouble with my Dell Inspiron.

It's definitely typically. Everyone I know, including myself, had major problems with the Inspirons.soonergirl wrote:I don't know if it's typical, but I have had a TON of trouble with my Dell Inspiron.

I have a 4 year old Inspiron that is still running strong. I take really good care of my computer, though.PirateCap'n wrote:It's definitely typically. My Inspiron lasted 4+ years before the hard drive died. Friendly reminder: back up your data.eandy wrote:I have a 4 year old Inspiron that is still running strong. If problems with Dell are typical, why would people keep buying them?

Because they are cheap.burvowski wrote:If problems with Dell are typical, why would people keep buying them?
I've had many problems with my own dell laptop, but none that seem quite atypical of laptops in general. Also, its 5 years old and still usable. My next laptop probably won't be a dell though.

I've had my Dell for 4 years and the only problem I had with it involved my battery dying. Thankfully it was under warranty.

Re: Laptops
Hard drive crashed on my Dell about 6 months after I got it, but they replaced it no questions asked. My screen died about 6 months ago after about 4 years of use, so now I have to run an S-video cable into my TV to use the laptop. I'm getting a Mac in July.
