Not sure if condos are an option for anyone, but this place is great:--LinkRemoved--. There may be some stuff for rent in there, but I don't know for certain. It's walking distance to the law school and a lot of local restaurants, shops, bars, etc.

Southwood is also great, but farther away.

I'd be down too, but won't be up there until right before orientation.

Speaking of orientation, does anyone know what we'll be doing for 3 days straight?

Awsome, looks like the meet up is shaping up. Who all has completed their application for the optional orientation week?

Hello fellow classmates :D
Curious what everyone thinks about the reading situation. It appears as though we will be assigned readings for our classes, but we are not supposed to get schedules until August. I'm thinking of reading a few on the recommended list to get into the right frame of mind and then hopefully the orientation reading and class readings will be more useful.

Thoughts?

Also, does anyone know protocol for getting football tickets? I recall a coupon that needed to be turned in to a block, but that was in 2006.

You can get the application from the FSU Law facebook page, they posted a link to it. I suggest you do it ASAP if you want to do it, it is due this Friday.

I believe and could be very wrong that the Student Bar gets a block.

My thoughts exactly, you find a place yet Sit?

Yeah... I decided to go with Polos on Park. I liked Evergreens, but just couldn't really justify paying the extra $100 to live there. I was actually planning on living in one of the places right across from the school since they are so close and pretty cheap, but they are really shoddy. I think they are pretty much ripping the law students off just because the school is right across the street. It's ridiculous that the rent for a 1BR in Polos is cheaper than a 1BR in Florida Towers. How people can live in Jefferson Arms, I just don't know. It reminded me of a jail cell.

For those with tight budgets, I would really recommend trying to find a roommate and living in a place like Polos or Evergreens. You will probably end up spending less than you would for 1BR at any of the places across from the law school. Obviously, if you don't have a car, I guess you need a place across from the school, but otherwise, be sure to explore other options.

I'm thinking I'd probably like to share a 2BR in Evergreens for 2L and 3L once I get to know my classmates. It would be a really good deal.

Also, when I went on the tour of the school, the guide said that law students have no problem at all getting football tickets. He even said that graduate students have priority over the undergrads. I hope he is right.

Also, I think I'm going to write my optional orientation personal statement tomorrow. I'm debating how long to make it, but it won't go beyond a page double spaced.

I spoke to the lady in charge of the program, and she said a page would suffice.

Alright so it looks like the TLS plus FB members is shaping up. When is everyone getting up there so we can get a ballpark date, of a day that would accommodate the most people?

Hey guys. I am an entering 1L, and I signed a lease with two 2L's in a 3 bedroom town house about a mile from campus. I recently found out that one of those two 2L's may not be attending FSU this fall, so we may need to fill that room. Send me a message if you are interested and I'll give you some details. I look forward to meeting everyone in August.

Heck yes, that is a great name.

I named my dog "Francisco Domingo Carlos Andres Sebastion [insert my last name] d'Anconia."

Anyone filled out the mandatory orientation registration form? What do you think about having a 2L or 3L mentor? It says the mentor will "help with your transition to law school through the summer, orientation, and beyond" which isn't terribly specific... I imagine a mentor would offer advice and answer questions throughout the summer and the year, but I wonder if there's anything more formal to it than that (like expectations of staying in touch on a weekly basis, or participating in certain events together, etc.) Anyone know anything more about it?

I filled it out and signed up for a mentor. I figure any extra advice can't hurt. And I am from out of state, so I need more info on the area, etc.

I am guessing it is going to be around 255. I was looking at the book list section of the schedule of classes for fall 2010 and it showed each first semester course had three sections with an estimated 85 people in each section. Check out the link and scroll down to Civil Procedure to see what I am talking about.

Tomorrow is my big day - moving up to Tallahassee, Quite excited, never been there before and this is a new chapter in my life beginning. I'm going up a few weeks early as my husband needs to find a job before school starts. Will be staying in a hotel for a few days/weeks until we find a place we like. We applied for and were assigned housing by FSU - in the graduate housing complex - Alumni Village. A 3 bedroom townhouse for $660/month. Has anyone else looked into this option?
