Hey everyone--
I am for sure attending Moritz in the fall and I am looking for a roommate. I am looking for somewhere near the law school in the south campus area. If anyone is interested in a roommate for next year in this area or knows someone who is, please message me. I am an Ohio State Undergrad so that will make the apartment search process a little easier for anyone who is interested.

Just let me know!

I'm not looking for a roommate, but if you're looking in Victorian or Italian Village and happen to come across a two-bedroom for less than 850 that you aren't interested in, let me know (specific, ain't I?).

As a matter of fact, I'm posting a bounty on a Short North apartment. I've got a 12-pack of the Great Lakes brew of your choice for anyone who delivers a successful lead on an apartment for me. By successful, I mean I end up signing a lease there. Our criteria are:

Two bedroom
Victorian Village or Italian Village, south of 5th Ave preferred
Less than 850
Must have dishwasher
Must have W/D or hookups
Must be small dog friendly.

*crosses fingers* c'mon market forces... ;)

Is that $850 total or will the rent be split? Just curious cause I found a NICE 2BR, 2BT, 2 Car garage, townhouse for around $1300. I'll find out whether it is pet friendly or not if you happen to be interested.

Nah, it's okay. $850 total is my budget, but thanks!

Apt shopping in Columbus is giving me gray hairs I think.

For those of you looking to live in an apartment complex setting (with free on-site parking) little bit farther away from the campus area with its undergrad madness and cramped living space, try looking up these apartments. I've estimated the commute time for each.

Grandview
- Somerset Square (5-10 min)
- Meridian (5-10 min)
- Arbors of Watermarks (15 min)

Upper Arlington
- University Village (10-15 min)
- Olentangy Commons (20-30 min)
- Olentangy Village (10-15 min)
- Governors Square (20-30 min)
- Fox and Hounds (20-30 min)

Any idea about prices?

Anybody know how I would go about getting additional loans for a new laptop? I remember reading somewhere that you can borrow up to $1800, is this correct? Btw, sent my seat deposit in yesterday, so it's official! :)

Congratulations on your deposit. :)

Regarding the laptop, the price of a laptop is essentially budgeted into your cost of attendance.
Moritz Website wrote:2010-11 Student Budget
Ohio Resident Annual Tuition $24,324
Est. Cost for Books & Supplies $3,860
Estimated Comprehensive Health Insurance (Single student coverage for 2 semesters.) $1,546
Est. Living Cost $15,584+
Total Budget $45,314
With almost 4k budgeted for books and supplies, I think you could get a laptop without asking for extra money, but if you've already looked at your budget and you're sure you need it, there's some sort of way to petition for it.

Another day of semi-fruitful apartment hunting in Columbus. Make it stop.

Isn't it awful? I think I might give Grove City a shot next time I'm up there looking. My husband's aunt and uncle lived there and really liked it (while one or both of them were attending grad school at OSU).

I'm really scared I'm going to end up having to rent sight unseen.

Yes. You have to buy it after July 1st though.

Awesome, thank you so much. I'm really wanting a MacBook.

Regarding your apartment/house search, I did come across a 2 bedroom townhouse in italian village for $700/month (750 if you pay after the 1st of the month). It's 1400 square feet with hardwood floors throughout and up to 2 pets are allowed (the back yard is fenced in, with a dog park nearby). There is a basement, a new fridge, a gas stove, and washer/dryer hookups. The only con it seems is that the house is old. If you could deal with that then I thought you may be interested. If so, I'd be happy to give you as much info as I have!

Corner of N 4th and 2nd Ave. It was a bit rough looking, but it was certainly liveable. The landlady seemed nice. Speaking of which, I need to e-mail her.

Was anyone else pleasantly surprised with the class of 2009 employment stats in the april update email? Almost everyone had a job and there were a good amount of people in big law. Seemed like a decent showing

It seems like the same as past 10 years.

Seemed suspiciously positive given the greater economic outlook, but I don't see how they could have fudged what they have reported other than outright lying. Might want to take a look at OSU's stats over at lawschooltransparency. I think I saw there that salary data was only based on 39% of the class. Found it late last night, so I didn't get time to really read it.

It`s Class 2009. If you compare the data with the one from NLJ's Go To Schoo list. You can that the percantage of student working in big law firms from OSU's list is very similar to NLJ. I am worry about career outlook for Class 2010 though.

Try not to think about it. Just remember that come the fall of 2011, the business cycle will have swung and the economy will be rapidly expanding. BigLaw will be struggling to staff all the litigation resulting from the SEC's lawsuit against Goldman and corporate America will be swept up in a frenzy of dealmaking. If we believe it hard enough, it will happen.

Also: I put down an application for an apartment today! The search is OVAH!
