I was accepted in mid February, and received a scholarship award just this past Monday. I was offered 24k over the course of six semesters. My LSAT was not that great, but my GPA is high, my softs are strong, and I am a UM. I really want to go to UF and I think this is a good offer. Does anybody think I should try to negotiate for more, or is this probably the max I would get?

Is anybody else willing to share what they received? I'm curious to see how I compare.

Go Gators!

What do you plan on saying that would not be dishonest and insulting to the law school kind enough to both accept you and offer you a scholarship that you yourself think fair or even generous?

Dear UF,

I really want to go to your law school, and I'm pleased with the offer of admission and scholarship that you have given me, but I want more money. You know as well as I do that I don't actually need it, but see, there's this great new 2011 Toyota Prius I saw sitting on the lot having escaped recall a couple days ago, and I really want to set myself up for a lengthy suit that will both put what I learn at UF to good use and make me mint.

Love,
redsquare

You're going to be paying something like $20,000 total for the best law degree a Florida school can offer. Be happy, and allow some other poor souls who might otherwise be paying sticker to share in your scholarship joy without having to worry about you digging into their small piece of the pie.

Although I've decided to attend a different institution in the fall, I am registered for ASD so I'll be attending on Friday along with a friend of mine.

I'll be there, and I'm still undecided.

The funny thing is that even though it's at the president's house, I doubt it's with the president. I think it's just called like that, but the president doesn't really live there. Anyway, I'll be there too.

Haha..I just re-read my invitation...I knew it wasn't going to be like their actual house where they live, and it was just a title...but your right nowhere does it say the President will even be there...wonder if its worth hanging around.

Did I miss the invitation to the President's house or am I not as high priorities as you guys? I have a prior commitment starting at 5:30, but I sure would like to be able to turn down the dinner invitation. Eh? Plus, as far as I know, I'm the most sought-after admitted student.

Also, is there some secret sign to let others know at ASD tomorrow that we're TLSers? How about a red scarf? Or a daisy in our hair? You make the call and I'll oblige.

So, I just figured out who got invited to the dinner. It seems like we're all minorities, sorry you were not able to turn down the invitation.

Hello guys,

I attended the ASD on March 19 th; I thought everyone was very nice and willing to help. I enjoyed the schools' culture and facilities. Any other opinions about it out there?

If you received a scholarship from UF, the deadline to pay is April 1st. If not, I believe the deadline is sometime in May for the first deposit and June of July for the second.

We've got to get this thing rolling. All of you who have decided to attend, stop lurking and make yourself known. What are you doing to prepare this summer? Taking it easy? Re-reading the constitution? Watching "Boston Legal" in its entirety? Personally, I'm memorizing the entire series of "Night Court" word for word. I want to be the most prepared when we start.

I'm confused.

Did anyone recently get the Financial Aid award email? By the tone of the email, it sounded as if I was being offered a scholarship, but once I finally logged into isis my award package was just stafford and gradplus loans. Is this a computer error or are those loans considered part of my 'award package'.

No, that's right. Your "award package" is all student aid including loans. "Award" sounds a lot nicer than it is, huh?

Agreed. I don't know why they would congratulate me on 30k worth of loans. That's stupid.

I just signed a lease at the Laurels. Everyone should move there so we could carpool. There is a bus stop right out front, but it will take 48 minutes to get to the law school by bus. Its a 2 mile straight shot from the law school.
