Did anyone see the message for the mentoring program on the facebook page? Is anyone going to participate in it? Just wondering.

I heard it's a good book to help understand exams better. I also read Law School Confidential and (although it's a bit outdated, esp when discussing laptops) I thought it helped provide a good picture of what I should expect in law school. I mean, as far as I know.sibley wrote:I panicked and ordered Getting to Maybe. Does anyone else feel like there's a faint glimmer of hope? Like this site's study guides might save us? Maybe make law school almost easy, if you take away the work? Hypothetically. Not trying to tempt fate here.
I never learned how to study. High school was easy and college tests that required heavy heavy memorization applied in just the right way I bombed. Anyone have any memorization tips? I'm good with concepts, but if I have flashcards I just end up memorizing the the shape of the words with the definition instead of the actual word. Or maybe that's ok and ALL the tests will be open note...
I saw that but I will most likely pass on participation. I'm more of a solo/small group person, and I feel like the time might be better spent independently prepping. But I could be wrong and maybe I will end up joining.morg1693 wrote:Did anyone see the message for the mentoring program on the facebook page? Is anyone going to participate in it? Just wondering.
Tests should be open note, but whether or not we'll have time to look things up is the question. I'm much the same way in terms of memorization; it's probably going to be the hardest part as I'm more of a visual learner and I feel like college shot my short term memory. At this point, my methodology is memorization and regurgitation until I can remember the basics for application. It is far from the best approach but currently the only way I can remember things anymore.sibley wrote:I panicked and ordered Getting to Maybe. If I ever want a mentor, I'll just find one myself.morg1693 wrote:Did anyone see the message for the mentoring program on the facebook page? Is anyone going to participate in it? Just wondering.
I decided against it too. It could be helpful, but to me it feels like it'll be just one more thing to keep track of. One appointment to make every week or so. Too much pressure, unnecessary added stress.Always Credited wrote:If I ever want a mentor, I'll just find one myself.morg1693 wrote:Did anyone see the message for the mentoring program on the facebook page? Speaking of stress. I just walked a a half mile to CVS to buy printer paper so I could print out the thing I need for GW orientation, just in case I don't have my printer by then. Normally that's not a big deal of a walk. But there was a festival all day and now the sidewalks are blocked by tents and the roads are full of drunk people, cars, and street sweepers who don't care if they hit you. I got the paper. But... now that I'm home... well... does anyone know what form I might have needed the paper for? =/
That, my friend, is the problem. I have no idea what I thought I needed to print.Teoeo wrote:sibley wrote: I got the paper. But... now that I'm home... well... does anyone know what form I might have needed the paper for? =/
What thing are you referring to?
I don't think we need anything...otherwise I'm about to be unprepared for orientationsibley wrote:That, my friend, is the problem. I thought it was something for health insurance or for loan deferral or something. But I already have the loan deferral form. Oy. Oh well. All I can think of is it's the form for travel reimbursement from this spring.Always Credited wrote:I don't think we need anything...otherwise I'm about to be unprepared for orientationsibley wrote:That, my friend, is the problem. Immunization form, perhaps?sibley wrote:I thought it was something for health insurance or for loan deferral or something. But I already have the loan deferral form. Oy. Oh well. All I can think of is it's the form for travel reimbursement from this spring.
No I just mailed that... is the travel reimbursement form on the website or is it in our materials? I checked our materials but couldn't find it. So I guess that was what the paper was for.Encyclopedia Brown wrote:Immunization form, perhaps?sibley wrote:I thought it was something for health insurance or for loan deferral or something. it's on the ed website, but the thing is I'm not sure we need it because apparently some schools do it automatically? I figured I need to go talk to them to find out anyway so I may as well have it.ryguy wrote:Where is the loan deferral form ???Encyclopedia Brown wrote:Immunization form, perhaps?sibley wrote:I thought it was something for health insurance or for loan deferral or something. I hope it's casual... the pre-orientation is business friday but that's because of the court.GermX wrote:So what is the dress code for orientation btw? Considering how freaking hot its been lately...
Probably the same "dress code" we have for class...meaning whatever you feel is appropriate.GermX wrote:So what is the dress code for orientation btw? Considering how freaking hot its been lately...
