Re: anyone contemplated suicide as a result of the job crisis?
No, but I have thought about other people thinking about it. To be honest, I'm somewhat (and pleasantly) surprised that there haven't been any (publicized) cases.
In conclusion, the economy has not affected the rate at which I think of throwing someone/myself in front of the subway train as I stand on the platform. It has, on the other hand, made moving to a cave in Afghanistan a more realistic prospect. Then again, if Bin Laden had student loans, I'm sure they'd have found him by now.

No, and while I'm guessing this is a flame, I hope that anybody who is thinking about suicide for any reason will go and talk to their school's counseling services first.

ha. have you ever actually done this? all they do is ask what you're "feeling," and then they repeat exactly what you said to them with sympathetic head tilt.gollymolly wrote:talk to their school's counseling services first.

If things ever get that bad, I'm going to move to Jamaica and start renting out surf boards to tourists. There's also a cool job in South Africa saving penguins that I found. I mean, really, jobs can be unpredictable no matter what your age, location, or profession. Sometimes you just have to take a breath.

they probably don't care whether you feel sorry for them or not, especially seeing as how they're dead.IDILL_E wrote:I find it hard to feel sorry for people who commit suicide, not trying to be a dick.
Things can never get that bad imo

PM me the job with the penguins. From now on, it's not T14 or bust. It's T14 or penguins.JPJ wrote:If things ever get that bad, I'm going to move to Jamaica and start renting out surf boards to tourists. I mean, do you have anything else going for you? Are you a fun guy with real friends? Then don't kill yourself. They'll miss you!
On the other hand, if you're one of those people that wanted biglaw since age 6 and don't have friends so much as you have "contacts"...

Seriously. Look at being 200k in the hole and no job an opportunity. All your planning has come to naught, so what you do now can be a clean break from that. Max out you debt, and go somewhere cool. Being a vagabond >>>>>>>>>>>being dead.

No, Im 22 and a law student in the prime of my life. If I can't get a job once I leave school I will simply leave the country and my gov't backed debt behind and live the rest of my days in a foreign country with an American JD 9may help get me a job, who knows). I plan on learning Spanish and owning a little bar near a quit beach front town in South America.
I love myself Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much to kill myself...seriously, I'm in infatuate with ME!

Ok, so I have to take a back the "job" part. I forgot this was something I thought about because you could do it for a very long time on very little money. They provide a place to stay (beach hostel), but you still cover your airplane ticket and food. --LinkRemoved-- Oh well... as a side note you can get paid to pick grapes in New Zealand vineyards, almost year round.
