MVP school, a hair above median (I think), ~20 screening interviews (deep in a secondary market, a few in another, bigger market).

Thus far:
3 dings, 0 callbacks, the remainder pending.

Here's to hoping the respectable but not eye-watering candidates will get a wave of callbacks after the rock stars commit.

I've started to decline a few (without any offers, but I couldn't possibly do that many CBs). Narrowing down markets and types of firms. I honestly don't understand why the response has been so good. The mix of applying broadly, my background (will just say it's a BS in an engineering discipline), and grades could be it, but I thought no LR would really hurt me. I'd guess I'm an above average interviewee, but nothing spectacular. I'd really like to finish this up soon so I can try and throw these CBs back into the pool (if firms are really doing that) for my classmates to take advantage of.

regarding the Cleary cb from Penn...do you know the person's grades?

Yes, but no need to share. They were good.

cb's from cleary seemed to span a range of grades... seems like they put a lot of emphasis on softs as well

Wow, this is pretty amazing considering the economy. Do you have some resume credential we don't know about or do you speak a foreign language or something else that would help explain the results? Are you a really good interviewer?

Hi all! Just a quick update from Penn OCI!

We have had two days so far with most people having 3-6 interviews total so far. There were calls that went out last night and this morning.

Firms making early calls have all been NYC. The DC and LA firms stress that it'll be a week or two before we hear anything.

The people I know who were called are pretty much all top 30%

Thanks! I am feeling really fortunate right now and just hope one of the call backs will turn into an offer. I think I am a good interviewer, and my resume has some unique things on it but I don't want to say what they are right now. My school is not in NYC.

Are you by chance focusing primarily on CA (or some other non-NYC market)? I've heard CA, in particular, is taking longer. Would makes sense given Stanford's late OCI.

I posted this on another thread just a minute ago, but I'll add it here as well-

So far my experience had been bad:
23 interviews
0 CBs
8/11 dings in the market I want (particularly because the remaining 3 are firms I have no shot at).
Haven't heard from other markets yet (which is odd because I interviewed at a couple firms in NYC and those were quick for most people).

Mass mailed every single NALP firm in my target market (major market) and rejected at every single one

Mass mailed every single NALP firm in a state that connects to the one I am from and was either rejected or haven't heard from every single one.

Mass mailed every single small to mid size firm on martindale's (50 attorneys and above) in the market I want and got nothing but rejects with the exception of one firm that says they want to do a screening interview, but the recruiting coordinator wouldn't call me back.

So a total mass mailings are well over 500 firms, with a total of 0 interviews (1 that said they want to interview me but never returned my phone call).

I'm a t3 to t10 transfer. Top 2% at my old school but not much else because journal write-on results aren't here. I also didn't work last summer (did summer school). Also, looking at an extra $130K in debt as a result of the transfer (gave up a free-ride).

In all fairness, though, I should mention I was an incredibly bad interviewee at most of OCI because I was nervous. But even then, it seemed like a lot of firms didn't really ask me much of anything besides maybe one or two questions to clarify things on my resume (such as what did you do in summer of 07'), and after that simply just asked me if I had questions for them, which is where the other 15-18 minutes of the interview went. That seemed like a complete waste of time because WTF good does it do me to learn a ton about a firm when they don't give me a callback. I think the time would've been better spent if firms would actually have asked me questions.

Also, being a bad interviewer doesn't do much justice for explaning the 500+ dings I got from mass mailings.
