Re: OCI callbacks thread
Top 1/3 T10, 17 interviews total, have had 13 so far.
Two dings (V25, V75), one callback (V50), ten various Vault and non-Vault firms pending.
It's a real weight off your shoulders when that first callback comes in.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
all my bids were with firms whose median gpa were at least .2 below mine (with the exception of jenner dc and w&c, which had medians of 3.8 and i am at 3.825). i don't know what happened. i'm not a great interviewer but i'm not terrible either, i thought that would be good enough for at least 3 callbacks.rayiner wrote:Overreach with your bids?Anonymous User wrote:top 5% LR, MVP.
15 interviews, 1 callback. this sucks.

Some schools collect and release median GPA's for firms. They keep a pretty tight lock on this info.

Top 1/3 MVPB. 23 interviews (20 done), 4 callbacks (V20, V50, V50, BoR), no official dings yet but not invited to GDC's invitation-only dinner, so at least one ding forthcoming.

this seems worse than usual. are you a bad interviewer or fat/ugly (serious question)? it might also be the fact you're trying for a tough market.Anonymous User wrote:MVPB

So far it's been a perfect storm of a number of factors. We'll see how the next week or so goes.Mark71121 wrote:this seems worse than usual. are you a bad interviewer or fat/ugly (serious question)? it might also be the fact you're trying for a tough market.Anonymous User wrote:MVPB

Waiting on 2 that haven't extended callbacks to any UVA students yet and 5 others that said it would take one week to two weeks.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
Top 3% or so at Northwestern.
I interviewed at 14 firms from Monday, Aug 10 to Wednesday, Aug 19. All the firms were V50 or better in northern California. So far I've gotten 6 callbacks, 1 ding, 1 email saying they're interested but won't be making callback decisions until next week. Two other firms told me during the interview that they wouldn't be making decisions until early September. So that leaves four firms where it's been long enough that I'm guessing there's a sad letter in the mail for me.
All 6 callbacks were a phone call from my interviewer followed by an email from the legal recruiter.
The calls came 1-4 days after being interviewed. The mode was probably 2 days.
I had two interviews that I would describe as "really horrible" that I still got callbacks from. Therefore, based on this overwhelming anecdotal evidence, I'd say grades are still the most important thing, no matter what, in the OCI process.
Hope that helps!

Re: OCI callbacks thread
I believe for most of the interviews, I interviewed fine. It was the grades, although they are far from rock bottom. Also, my previous WE is perfect for something not in demand right now... but was it was in demand when I entered law school!. So w/my resume it was hard to say I was interested in litigation with a straight face. For some of the firms I did try though.

Re: OCI callbacks thread
top 25% at T10
22 interviews
2 callbacks
2 email dings (probably more coming since some firm CBs have gone out that i haven't gotten)
3 post-interview dinner/reception invites
i went to a GDC-invite dinner. i've heard before that dinner invite doesn't translate into a callback, and GDC is one of those firms where this is true. i've heard the dinner is a giant mind game. does anyone know about this? based on some of the conversation starters by the partners, i wouldn't be surprised if it's true. i didn't throw up my food or anything but did let a few bad (like, wtf did i say that?!) statements slip out. i was also exhausted after a long day of interviews...believe me i tried to put on a good face but i looked spaced out == bad impression. did i fuck up?
to an above anony: i know that no GDC-dinner nvite doesn't mean no callback.

I went to a GDC dinner as well and didn't get that feeling at all. Everyone was very very fun and it was a great night. That being said, I don't have a callback in hand either, so we'll see if my mind really did get played.
