We hope so. The mods, Ken, and the code monkey in the back are really excited about it. XOXO actually has a lot of great information, but you have to sift through 100 billion racist flames to find one nugget of goodness. Hopefully we can strike a nice balance here.

This is an awesome idea. Are there any hopes to expand this to clerkships/government type of things, as well?

It covers whatever people post about. Last I checked, those are forms of employment.

In time, we may expand to have an entirely separate forum for clerkships, but for now any questions can definitely be posted in this employment forum. Clearly there was a large need for this as evidenced by how many posts have come in the first day.

This is a great idea, I'm very excited to see this take off. I pledge to contribute whatever trials and tribulations of employment I encounter to the betterment of TLS's info

This is not that hard, people.

Just a suggestion...

You guys should consider making the "Submit" button pressed after an antecedent "Anonymous Quote" button ask if the poster really wants to post anonymously (with the instruction that it should be for cause). I'm sure a bunch of people are accidentally posting anonymously because the button is in the same freaking position as the "Quote" button is in all other forums (even though you have a red "Anonymous" on the button). Frequent posters (like me) just hit the Anon Post button because we're used to clicking there in other forums to quote someone else.

You guys get a monkey?

Awesome forum though. As a 1L, I imagine not much use will come of it until December when we're all looking for summer employment of some form, but it's a great idea.

I wonder if there might be some value in having two different legal employment threads: one for 1L jobs and one for 2L/3L jobs and clerkships. I know if I were a 1L, when job season came around filtering through all the 2L/3L jobs would be annoying.

At the same time, I doubt any 2L/3L students would ever look at the 1L thread, so 1Ls might never get their questions answered by people with experience.

Just a thought.

I like when I open this forum and the banner ad says "Thinking about a career change?"

Suggestion: TLS-Stats but for people who did EIW/OCI? You can sort out between schools, ranks, vault-ranges, specific firms, journals, URM, transfers, and you could even allow for anonymous posting.

Not sure that we have enough data to be useful without risking outing people.

It would be cool to have example cover letters, resumes, thank you letters, etc. as a sticky just like on the law school forum where there is a thread about supplements and so on.

Ok, because I know I am not the only one who has ever asked this, I will ask it here in hopes that someone else will find it before posting a new topic to the board.

What is the link for that site where you can look up firm offer rates, billable hours, number of attorneys, pay rates, benefits, ect.?

EDIT: Found what I was looking for. For posterity, it is: http://www.nalpdirectory.com

Suggestion: why not make this post into a FAQ, so we stop getting redundant threads? For instance, the c/b to offer ratio question has been asked and answered many times. It might also be helpful to point people to resources like the NALP directory, mart-hub, etc.
