Anything wrong with this suit before I pull the trigger? I liked the way it looked in the store but is the ticket pocket bad?

http://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/suits/si ... %2520Lapel

I have an enormous chest (44L, but ~33 waist) so finding a suit with shoulders that don't over-hang my shoulders is freaking hard, this is the only one that I've found that doesn't have big padded shoulders

Or is the only acceptable SuitSupply suit their Napoli? (i.e. http://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/suits/na ... sic-Napoli - looks decent but the padded shoulders run past my shoulders with how big I have to get the chest...)

Also taking recommendations for other similar suits (similar fit/cut/price range)

That might be a bit light in color. I think it looks good though.

Brooks Brothers is always an option around Christmas for ~$600.

Not a fan of the ticket pocket. It's a bit fashion forward for OCI/interviewing. The Napoli looks good. Just get it tailored well and it'll be all good. Unless your chest is literally wider than your shoulders, you'll be fine if you just buy a size that fits your shoulders.

even if the jacket is pulling a little bit on the button? The guy at the store I said I would need to go m2m, but I'm completely clueless. what can a tailer do?

also thinking about checking out BB, maybe if i can catch a sale... something like this good? http://www.brooksbrothers.com/Milano-Fi ... &cgid=0216

also, i keep seeing these "birdseye" suits... is that bad?

I know a lot of questions but kinda clueless so thanks!

Tailor will give you a little more space in the chest. Based on your description, not sure a Milano fit would be very good for you. In fact there are other suits out there more appropriate for your body shape than the 1818. And given how much you're going to need to take the trousers in, even if you find a good athletic cut suit, you're going to be best off buying suit separates.

I honestly can't tell the difference between these two suits. wtf is "antra" and wtf is "faux uni"? Which one should go with?>

http://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/suits/na ... sic-Napoli

vs

http://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/suits/na ... sic-Napoli

thanks!

"Antra" should mean something like "scalloped" (think something along the lines of a very small pique weave), but I don't really see that in the close-up photos. "Faux uni" means "looks like a solid color, but isn't." In this case, it appears to be a twill-like weave with a mix of charcoal and lighter-gray fibers. Nobody actually uses either term.

The antra will be darker and more conservative, so that's probably your choice for an interview.

Wow hell of an analysis, thanks!

Was thinking of going with that one, just wasn't sure if Antra meant something weird though. Thanks for the confirmation!

Are ties supposed to be this fat? I ordered a 3.5' tie from tie bar and was amazed at how fucking fat it is. I'm also shorter so it seems even more ginormous to me.

Maybe i've been brainwashed by fashion forward media but this looks like a bib.

I'm considering returning it for a 3'. Keep it? I haven't seen many people wear such a fat tie. Have we've moved away from the 3.5'?

you could get away with a 3 inch tie for interviews depending on your build, the length of the tie, and the lapel width of your interview suit. having said that, the average build/tie length/interview suit i saw at OCI would not have made for good application of the narrower tie option. so it's likely both: you have been brainwashed a lil.. but it might work out for you since you are shorter.

i had a couple tie bar ties and the taper (idk what else to call it) getting them to 3.5 did seem bibby-er than my other 3.5s. that's the main reason i haven't gone back to the tie bar. i can do 8cm or 9cm generally though, and i'm a medium sized dood

If you're that guy's build or smaller, go for the 3'

3 in. is perfectly fine for an interview tie. Just don't go any narrower.

Macy's add shows a blazer at $99 that is normally priced at $450 from an "American brand". I intend to check it out at least.

I don't think Nordstrom, Sak's or Dillard's has posted theirs yet.

I need new interview shoes, and my watch has a brown strap. Thoughts about these?:

I would wear black shoes to an interview, every time. Those are a really well-made, conservative shoe from a reputable brand, but I would caution you against anything outside of the expected interview attire: black shoes, black belt, white shirt, navy or charcoal suit, conservative tie. If you are going to wear a watch, I would say one with a black leather band is probably best so as to match your belt and shoes, but the watch probably isn't a huge sticking point unless it's like obnoxiously huge or a loud color.

tl;dr find the exact same shoes in black

you're right about matching the leather. wearing black and brown together is a blaring gaffe

Many of the businesses staying closed on Thanksgiving aren't geared towards your average Black Friday shopper. Nordstrom, for example, tends to do more business during its annual anniversary sale in July than on Black Friday, said spokesman Colin Johnson.
