No it was at the bottom underneath the recommendation and where it says "application submitted" etc. I wouldn't worry about it though. I think I just said or did the wrong thing or something.

Hi everyone, I've been on TLS for a long time, just never created a username.

I have an SEO interview coming up, and I keep seeing people reference a list of interview questions, and I can't seem to find it, unless it is just the reference to knowing the firms, why law, and why seo.

Does anyone have the list of questions, or can they PM them to me?

I had mu interview in NY. The case study involved credit card companies offering cards to people who had gone bankrupt. The issue was that the debt the people owed had already expired aka they were no longer legally liable to pay them down. However, the card companies took advantage of their bad credit by saying if they agreed to make a small payment on the debt owed, they would be issued a small (500-5000) line of credit. The catch is once you make a payment on the debt that is no longer legally owed, you restart the statute of limitations and you become legally liable once again.

I was asked to talk about the major points/issues. Which side I supported (advocate for the program or not). Once I defended a side they played a little bit of devil's advocate, but nothing too hefty.

All in all, the interview was a breeze. Maybe it was the preparation I did in response to the horror stories I heard (and I actually didn't even overdo it on the preparation). Definitely have your 8-10 questions down that you are sure they will ask, and have your answers outlined (not memorized).

Same here. Just keep in mind that if they see this they are going to switch it up...

You mentioned 8-10 questions they will ask. Which questions are those? Just standard questions?

For example, What is your greatest strength? Explain a situation where you solved a problem?

I'm just trying to get an idea of what they will ask.

How to Prepare

-Know your resume! Anything that is listed on your resume may be asked. Don't list anything that isn't accurate. Review and think about what parts of it might be most relevant to SEO. This includes details about academic work, leadership experience, work history and community involvement.
-Do your SEO homework! Be ready to present an understanding of the SEO mission and talk about how having an internship at SEO is different for working directly for a firm, company or nonprofit.
-View the webinars for all the SEO program areas to learn more about these industries and the SEO internship. Click on Internship Areas, choose your first program choice, than click on the view webinar link.
-Participate in mock interview sessions with SEO alumni or through your campus career services if possible. Practice interviewing with people you know and trust. This should not be the first time that you are sitting in front of people presenting yourself. Even if you just practice with friends or family, it will help to make you less nervous when you are going through the real thing.
-Reach out to SEO alumni on your campus (click here for a list of alumni contacts). Learn where they worked as an intern and what technical or industry skills they used on the job. Learn something from them about their experience not only as part of SEO, but as an employee of a partner organization.
-Have a clear understanding of the industry you are applying for and why it is a good fit for you. Industry information is available on our website, career sites such as http://www.vault.com, and in guides that should be available through your career services office.
-Review industry media: the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, the New York Times, other newspapers, websites, television shows, and magazines that address current events tied to your industry area of interest.
-Visit the websites of some of our partner corporations, law firms and foundations. You can get a sense for their missions, histories, new initiatives, organizational structure, divisions, key management and recent changes or announcements.
-Prepare at least two questions to ask the interviews that can help you build on what was covered in the interview or increase your knowledge of the internship experience.

Just made my seat deposit for NYU and sent it to SEO!!! So excited! I really hope I get in. I think I did decently well on the interview.

Yea I got one today. I didn't apply to schools in the regions where the internships are, so I probably won't get in, but I still have a bit of hope since they've actually looked at my application...after 3 months.

I had my interview in early feb, and my recommender hasnt gotten the rec in yet. Am i screwed?

I haven't made a decision on school yet either, but it'll definitely be in the T6

Errr, not screwed yet. But I would be a bit worried. You def want to have that in by the time you deposit.

Do you mean he's worried because of the fact that the recommender is taking such a long time (implying that maybe he/she has forgot, or not submitted it properly), or because it might affect his chances of an acceptance. I ask because I don't think the timing issue is really playing that big of a factor yet? From everything I've heard (SEO representatives, SEO alumni, common opinion on TLS) SEO understand the dragging nature of admissions and they push making a flood of decisions until April. All of this is anecdotal, but I'm guessing there is some truth to it. It seems that a mid-March completion on the app seems to put you in good shape, and ever late-March/early-April completions aren't necessarily auto-dings.

That being said, I'm sure the earlier the better to some degree, I just don't think it's "I'm screwed" worthy just yet.

Contact your recommender and let them know how time sensitive this is. Are you using the online submission option, it works a lot faster than the snail mail option? If you did make sure they got it cause I've had some problems with other recommendations in the past with spam blockers swallowing up the e-mail.

They won't make a decision until all your documents are in, but my interviewer acknowledged that most applicants wont turn in their deposit until mid to late April. I don't think not turning in your LOR yet makes that much of a difference. You should encourage your writer(s) to get it in though. Maybe give them a deadline such as 15 March.

I haven't heard back yet. There was talk of a big round of decisions around the 9th but I guess that didn't happen....

Really really dumb question but...What is SEO?
