From last year at least they said the super strong candidates were admitted with no follow up, the good but not great got a follow up and the rest were rejected. Although this cycle appears to be very different. By this time last year they already had a FB page with 10+ acceptances. I'm not sure how everything is going to play out because there seems to be a divergence from past cycles.cmik801 wrote:do you have to receive a follow up interview to be accepted into the program? I really hope things are moving a little slower than last year. I'm still waiting on decisions from 5 schools and am afraid I will be at a disadvantage if they start accepting people soon. All of this waiting is driving me nuts

I heard the same thing. Definitely grateful for another opportunity, but I assumed it meant I'm a borderline candidate. I also thought there'd be an acceptance by now. Perhaps some people are too shy to come out with it publicly? Come on, all you super strong candidates... where are you?unc0mm0n1 wrote:From last year at least they said the super strong candidates were admitted with no follow up, the good but not great got a follow up and the rest were rejected. Oh, my alum friend said SEO has been really trying to recruit more applicants this year because it appears there are less applications this year than last year... guess due to improving economy?
Anywhos, that's what I heard. Could be wrong...

Re: SEO Corporate Law
The fact that they could have less applicants makes a bunch of sense. Consider the fact that most T14 schools have noted that they are seeing a decline in applications this year, i.e. I spoke with someone at UVA in the admissions office who said apps were down 10%. If we assume (not safe to do this, but just go with it) that apps are down equally across all demographics, that means the number of eligible applicants has declined. (This would hold even if the number of URMs + asians hadn't declined as much as 10% but still went down a bit) Add in the fact that SEO has given signs that it has expanded its corporate law program and you have a problem. Declining number of eligible applicants and an increased amount of open seats.Malcolm8X wrote:Less applicants?!?! This thread has been SWARMING! When I interviewed this week the lady told me that they had already released some decisions. I guess they're not TLSers

That's a good problem for me. But I sense as if they have gotten more selective over the years (maybe just out of caution for the law firms). Apps may be down but word has definitely gone out. Reading past forums, people were like "ehhh, I'll think about SEO, but I rather go boating across the Caribbean during my last free summer for 3 years." Now, it's "HOT DAMN! Biglaw 0L?! What a great way to put your foot in the door, ITE! I pray to the heavens I make this!" The economy has got to have boosted up their apps in my opinion.TLSNYC wrote:The fact that they could have less applicants makes a bunch of sense. Re: SEO Corporate Law
It makes sense but I posted something about SEO on my LSN and three minority students with T14 acceptances wrote me and asked me what it was (including a black Yale acceptance). So there are still a lot of people who don't know about SEO. I don't know how but it's true.Malcolm8X wrote:That's a good problem for me. Please know that this process can drag out. Someone may be able to find it in this thread, but I don't remember when I got in. I believe it was in April after interviewing in Feb. I also only got the follow-up interview after writing them and asking them if everything was okay with my file. So...
Interview...long wait...email asking them if they needed anything else from me...follow up invite...follow up interview the next day...accepted 5 hours after follow up interview.
Moral of the story--everyone's timeline is different and somewhat random. Hang in there.

That's the rule. I have heard of one exception, but that's an outlier. You will need to send your proof of deposit to be admitted.Knock wrote:But you can't get accepted until you send in your enrollment letter, correct?

I hope they have too few applicants! It allows for people to mess up their interview but still get in with a good enough school! In all seriousness though, it sounds like they have fewer from all the alums posting on here that they keep getting emails reminding them to tell people to apply.Malcolm8X wrote:That's a good problem for me. In reading the boards, a callback for a second interview might be good since it means you are still being considered, but wait, perhaps it’s not good because this could mean you are on the bubble. No callback interview might mean you have been classified as a shoe-in. But then again, no callback could mean you are no longer in contention. Am I missing something here

Re: SEO Corporate Law
Haha so true. But there's no way we can control any of this, so we all just need to calm down. We all just need to do the best we can on each individual component since we don't know if it might be the last step, and then hopefully the acceptance calls will come as soon as we deposit. At least it seems there are fewer applicants, so we all have a decent shot. Let's just hope for the best!Renne Walker wrote:In reading the boards, a callback for a second interview might be good since it means you are still being considered, but wait, perhaps it’s not good because this could mean you are on the bubble. No callback does not necessarily mean you are on the bubble. It is a necessary next step for a lot of people. Just do it with a smile. If you have one, be thankful for that.

I haven't left the country since I was an infant (of course I don't remember it). That's a really great consolation prize! Obviously we all want this, but it's a lot better if your alternative isn't waiting tables all summer which is what I will be doing if I don't get this.Non-Chalant1 wrote: I haven't left the country since I was an infant (of course I don't remember it). So apparently we're not supposed to schedule follow up interviews until we decide on a school? Mine got cancelled since I haven't picked a school yet. Anyone else get the same message?
