I was selected for the 2L internship this year and I'm trying to figure out which location I should request. Are there any locations that people particularly enjoyed and are the overseas locations financially feasible?

Thanks! Congrats to the other interns and good luck to all those still waiting!

No experience with the internship but I'm active duty. The nicest locations are going to be those in the Maryland/Virginia area, as well as Carson, Lewis, Sam Houston, and Bragg. But if you're looking for good legal experience you might want somewhere with more UCMJ issues like Polk or Hood.

Do your internship at a big base. You'll get a good amount of military experience to talk about in your AD application personal statement. You'll also likely get better recommendations from around the office. You need O4 and up recommendations. O3s just won't cut it. At smaller bases, they're mostly O3s.

Hawaii is a good pick. It's a great location and a high speed base. Carson, Lewis, and Stewart are also picks in a good location. Stewart is near Savannah. Don't do Germany. It's not an internship experience that will give you a good idea of how the Army works.

I don't know if this applies to anyone currently waiting for results, but I thought I'd post it here just in case:

A friend of mine was a Naval Flight Officer and wanted to transition to JAG via the LEP program. She was initially rejected, but when she called the LEP coordinator and let them know that she had been offered a full-ride scholarship to one of the schools she'd applied to, they went ahead and admitted her to the LEP program anyway. I think they reconsidered once they knew that it wouldn't cost the Navy anything to admit her except for the PCS move from where she was currently stationed to where she'd be going to school.

Does this little birdie know anything about Army AD Direct Appointment? :D ... Everyone, still no calls for AF AD? The early release of the Army Internship selectees gave me [false] hope that we might learn both AF and Army active duty by the end of this week.

That birdie only deals with FLEP as far as I know but that doesn't mean both lists aren't waiting on the same person.

Both JAGCNET and the JARO site appear to be down for me - both on my PC and phone, and co-clerk's pc. This has happened in the past when they are uploading results. Anyone else having problems getting on?

There was a post yesterday that said FLEP results were set to drop this morning, so it could just be that - if it was AD, presumably we would have heard about someone getting a good news call from his/her FSO yesterday (based on past practice). Guess we'll know soon enough.

Well both JAGCNET and JARO are back up with no apparent change. My apologies for jumping the gun.

Anyone waiting on results from the Marine board. I know they met and looked at just PLC-Law applicants last Tuesday. I am waiting on word. Anyone else?

FLEP results are in. Don't see AD yet. Congrats to those selected for flep.

Thinking about taking my phone to Verizon during lunch -- seems it's broke as the SJA hasn't called yet.

Just received a call from my FSO. The list goes up tomorrow. Best of luck to all those who applied.

Did he tell you your results or just that it was going to be posted?

For those who were selected for Army AD and are just finishing up law school, hurry up and get another job. February 2014 is the earliest you'll be starting, most likely.

Anyone else getting calls. I am officially completely distracted at work. I was predicting early January. I guess they really hustled this time...

No call here, not expecting one.

Maybe 10th time is the charm?

For what it's worth, my FSO told me he'd call either way - so don't give up hope yet if you haven't heard. Sure, I wish he'd called two hours ago, as I'm sure he'd be more anxious to share good news than bad, but it is a work day for them. Good luck everyone.

Just to clarify, are you an AD or FLEP applicant?

Still just two posters reporting calls . . . ? I would have thought more applicants would be lingering.

Well, it's still early (depending on where the FSO is located). Plus there will probably still be time to receive a phone call tomorrow before the list drops.

I believe that one of the people that was called has the same FSO as me, so that isn't looking good for me :(

Does every applicant receive a phone call before results are posted?

I just received an email from my FSO saying he doesn't know drop date.

So, if it is tomorrow, my guy in Florida hasn't heard.

I read through last January's posts (when the results from last year were released). People were getting calls pretty late at night. Also, apparently some people got an email instead. Others didn't find out until the list dropped. I'd wait until you see the list before jumping to any conclusions. Good luck all.
