Re: Military Law
Are any of you current Army JAGs willing to talk with me about DCC? I have a bunch of questions about what to expect and what goes on there. Thanks!

Re: Military Law
So, I have been lurking since early September as I went through the process, and I found out today that I was accepted into AF JAG. It seems like trends are always changing, so I wanted to start here and update my progress through the process. I will try to inform as to timing of each successive step.
I also want to say that I did not expect to be selected, and that there is cause to hope for those who don't really fit the profile. I went to a top 30-ish law school, where I was bottom 50%. I was not on a journal. I did not do moot court or mock trial. I got a B in evidence. My family has no military history, and aside from signing up for an informational interview my 2L year, I showed no outward interest in JAG. This was my first board.
I did concentrate on practice-based classes, like criminal defense clinic and trial practice. I have a demonstrated commitment to public service throughout law school and since graduating in May of this year. I read this entire thread. I interviewed at a smaller base because I was told that being #1 of 5 interviewed on a base is far better than being #3 of 20. I was meticulous about the application and spent a lot of time preparing for the interview.
Thanks to all those who have contributed to this thread. There really is a wealth of knowledge here.

Looks like it was a huge board - about twice the normal size. Kinda unusual.

Do you know, on average, how long it takes for results to post after the board meets?NavyJAG1 wrote:Navy board met last week.
Thank you for the info!

Nothing yet on the East Coast. Hoping that the SJA I interviewed with is just awfully busy this morning.

Nothing here in the Mountain West.
I'm guessing that if I haven't heard by 5, I'll have to try again in December. That's ok. I would've liked to get in first try, but I knew that wasn't very realistic.
Also, Army and Navy apps are still out. Looking forward to hearing from them here soon too.

My thoughts exactly - if I haven't heard by 5, I will just have to hunker down and try again with the AF and also with the Army in December.spleenworship wrote:Nothing here in the Mountain West.

Edit: Still quiet in Central Time. Interviewed at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA.

Got the call around 8 AM this morning, very excited! I'm wondering if the larger bases will take longer - has anyone heard anything from Andrews?

Current AF Jag. Looks like I was a bit off the numbers. It looks like the last several boards have selected around 30-40 people. This board selected 60+. Still a pretty big board.maxpayne wrote:You mind explaining a bit further? Are you a current AF Jag? Thanks!howell wrote:Looks like it was a huge board - about twice the normal size. Kinda unusual.

Re: Military Law
Why would this board be so big? It seems like it should be smaller if anything, given the looming budget cuts.howell wrote:Current AF Jag. Looks like I was a bit off the numbers. Re: Military Law
USN JAG hopeful with all appendages crossed. If the board met last week, does that mean we could see a status change at any time? From scanning previous posts it seems like the last few boards have run past the 8-week mark.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
