I was hoping to go into Intelligence for a few years and then moving over to JAG if possible. My uncle worked in intelligence back in the 70s in Pakistan and Japan and did some awesome work for the country. Plus, I've been to 42 countries and lived on 4 continents over about a decade. I might fit in with the intelligence operations. I'll take what I can get though. I'm doing research now to see what's appealing. I'll ask the recruiter what the needs are also. I think that'll help me make my decision whether to enlist.

Just about to get out Intel Sergeant here... don't do this. While there are cool jobs in the intel community (like, really really cool ones) the vast majority of jobs are more like "make sure people in the unit have clearances and shred what needs to be shredded." It's different downrange, but downrange isn't really something you can count on anymore. Once you enlist, you'll just be another specialist; big Army won't GAF what your background is or how many degrees you have. I had a buddy getting paid for two high priority languages that's been from one infantry battalion to another. He hasn't been in a position that took advantage of his language skills or his cultural knowledge, and he likely never will be in one.

Like I said, cool jobs are out there. But you likely will have to a) rock the ASVAB b) reenlist and c) get really lucky to get them. I don't regret my time with the Army at all, but I was lucky to be placed with people who saw past my rank. Only consider enlisting for intel if you want to do a career in intel (like, you'd be willing to reenlist and forget JAG), and even then make sure you're aware it might not be everything you expect. Also, your SF 86 is going to be a nightmare for a TS if you've lived in all the places you say you have. That shouldn't discourage you, but expect yours to be a long investigation.

They won't do the age waiver…My hope is JAG DA (fall 2014) or Reserves. Also, medical administrator…

What are the regs on practicing law in civilian courts in your local jurisdiction? For instance, can you do pro bono small claims as a legal assistance attorney, can you draft wills and contracts for your family and friends? Can you moonlight?

No they are making calls. I got one from my interviewing SJA.

Because only two people that were called by their SJA with the good news posted on TLS and OTS, I wonder if other applicants who were selected will be notified only by snail mail? Usually, there are quite a few AF Jag selects who post on either site, letting everyone know they received the call. It could be that fewer applicants were selected or that those selected are not on TLS or OTS. IDK. I guess we will find out.

Hi all. I just posted this over at OTS and figured I would share here too. I've been stalking both forums for a while, but this is my first time posting. Not to get anyone's hopes up, but apparently the calls are still going out. My SJA just called me today at noon CST to let me know I had been accepted. He mentioned that the email had gone to his spam folder so he initially did not see it. That may explain some delays with notifications.

Anyways, I've been in private practice for 3 years and this was my first board. I'm very excited.

I know it has been said before, but I would encourage anyone who has been accepted to get copies of all of your medical records if you are planning to disclose any prior medical issues. I was accepted AF JAG on Nov. 20th and just went through the MEPS today. The back-and-forth process with the Accessions Office can take a long time, and that is realized every time they ask for more information (which they did several times in my case). I wish I had heeded that advice even though I didn't think I would need everything they eventually asked for based on my interpretation of instructions in the acceptance packet. It could have saved me several months and a lot of headaches. If you were just accepted, you might as well do it now, since you will be doing a lot of waiting for the next couple of weeks anyway.

Thanks for the advice. I haven't received my packet yet so I'm sure I'll find out soon, but what types of issues would you have to disclose? For example, if you went to the doctor for general arm or knee pain while lifting weights but were never diagnosed with anything and the issue resolved itself, is this something they would ask about? I'm assuming in that case not disclosing would be fine, I'm just curious as to how broad or specific they are.

The instructions for the reviewer at the top seem to give some indications that some items you disclose will not require you to submit records, but I was asked to submit for everything I disclosed. In your hypothetical case, I think you would have do disclose it under section 2a(8). What they will be looking for is something from a doctor saying that the condition is no longer an issue. The person working with you in Accessions will be able to give you some guidance. You could try putting questions like this to her hypothetically. If it's a gray area and it's the kind of thing she knows is already resolved and will just make more work for both of you, she might just say hypothetically that she would not bring it up.
