Weekend Callback?

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Oct 16, 2018 6:23 pm

I was just given dates for a callback and some of them fall on a Saturday or Sunday. I was wondering if the person was looking at the wrong month or if weekend callbacks are not unusual

Gotta be an error. No firm would schedule a callback on a weekend.

Yep - definitely call/email them to ask, noting that the dates fall on a weekend.

I vaguely recall hearing of a firm that actually did do weekend CBs, but not sure if that was true or just an urban legend. In any case, doesn't hurt to check given how unheard-of it is.

I actually did have a weekend callback because the partner wanted to schedule last minute and there was nobody else available to sub in.

Never given a weekend date to pick from though.

I (and many of my classmates) had my callback at Skadden on a Saturday. This was a few years ago though — now Skadden limits it to weekdays as far as I can tell.

yes some law firms as noted above copied ibanking and do "super Saturdays" where they will just have everyone come in back to back on a Saturday. sometimes it's the easiest way to schedule for busy partners.

yeah but it's mid-October... OP is this a second round lateral interview? Or is this actually a callback for an SA? Even if the latter, I doubt any is having a "super" Saturday in October.

OP here.

I’m an out of town lateral candidate (roughly 5-6 hour flight to get to the interview).

I'd say it could be intentional given the flight and so you have to miss less work? But it also could be an accident. You should confirm.

I know of firms in Atlanta that did weekend callbacks and extended offers over the weekend. This was after a career fair and around the last week of July/first week of August, though.

OP here. It wasn’t a typo. The firm knows I’m interviewing with a decent number of firms and wanted to give an option for a weekend callback if it fit better with my schedule.
