"Firing" Recruiter?

Post by Anonymous User » Sat Jul 28, 2018 10:46 am

If you previously gave your resume to a recruiter but now you either want to apply to jobs by yourself or use a different recruiter, what is the best way to terminate your relationship with the first one? Do employers ever divide recruitment fees between multiple recruiters?

Your recruiter should not be submitting your resume to any firms without your pre-approval for each specific firm. So you should just let them come to you with opportunities and then decline, or you can tell them “don’t bring me any more opportunities, I’m not looking anymore and don’t want to waste your time, thanks.” You don’t have a contract or other relationship with them such that they get a commission if you Get a Job Through Networking or your own efforts and you are not precluded from trying.
