Info on small/midsized NYC/NJ Law Firms?

Post by Anonymous User » Wed Jan 17, 2018 6:04 pm

Hello all,

T14 2L looking for a summer associate position, and I'm trying to find information on small to midsized law firms that are (or might be still) hiring summer associates. Looking myself of course, but all information either way seems like a black box. Does anyone here have any direct or anecdotal information that might help here?

Midsized firms will vary - some act like big law and already finished hiring, while others pick up summers well into the spring. Small firms on the other hand almost universally start hiring closer to mid/end of March, when they have a better understanding of their needs and resources. You can mass mail, but with mid and especially small firms, reaching out to alums or any attorney of interest is probably a better bet. The hiring process tends to be far less formal/structured.
