Supervising partner
Hi all,
Does anyone here deal with a difficult supervising partner? He is constantly on my case about every little thing. Our group is constantly meeting the goals of our clients and I think I’ve been doing a good job. However, he will constantly react negatively toward me for very little seemingly insignificant things.
Let’s just say he follows the employee handbook very closely (almost too closely).
Perhaps I need to just deal?
If anyone else is dealing with a similar situation I’d be interested in how you handle it.

Yeah, I think we need examples to really determine if this is a problem.
What's wrong with following the employee handbook? I get it--it probably has a bunch of things that people would rather not follow if they had a choice. But it's there, and it contains rules/policies/etc. that everybody has to follow. Meeting your clients' goals is not your only job.

I had a partner tell me while he was pissing in a stall next to me that my shoes (Air Force 1) was too casual even for casual fridays. The same partner later told me I need to make use of my accrued vacation time per firm policy.
There are ppl like that. It's annoying but if they dont interfere with your substantive work and personal space on the regular, I think try to ignore it.

My 2 cents, but air force ones seem a little out of place in a law firm.
Not saying it's right, maybe the stuffy law firm culture needs to change, but I think if I wore AF1s I'd be expecting there to be a good chance of someone saying something.
Extreme example, but I work better at home in sweatpants, but it's still poor judgment on my part to wear them into the office.
