Bar Stipends/Salary Advances

Post by AmericanEagleee » Thu Aug 31, 2017 9:48 pm

Does anyone know timing re: bar stipends and salary advances? Offer letter/HR was unclear, and I didn't see anything mentioned on the forums. Apologies if this has already been asked/answered!

Just ask your firm. I think most firms pay either all/half around June 1. If they split pay, the second half is usually in August. This is just based on my and my friends' experiences in Chicago. Not sure if NYC/DC or CA are different

Firms vary. Most firms will do direct billing for barbri - but again, that varies.

For one piece of data, I got my stipend in two installments. One around graduation and one after sending final official transcript.

Bar fees (registration, mpre) were reimbursed within a few weeks of submitting receipts.

Thanks! I asked and they weren't certain about anything, so I figured I'd ask here.
