Not having to track hours is often cited as an upside by my colleagues (I didn't work at a firm before I came in-house, so I can't weigh in on that personally).
Yeah, this is huge. I'm sure it's also nice to be reviewed based upon the quality of your work rather than a combination of quality and the amount you billed over the year.
