Re: Cleary--- interviewer? Was it a personalized email or a mass-type?

Interviewer was KR. Email was mass-type. No follow up today, unlike anon above.

Any Ropes movement yet, or do we not expect that until tonight?

Also, at what point should can we be like "okay, the number I have now is probably all the callbacks I can expect to get"? Monday?

Future HLS rising 2Ls, listen carefully: do not bid exclusively DC. I had high single-digit Hs/strong DC ties/Ivy UG/lots of interesting WE and I'm sitting on one DC CB as of Friday afternoon. OCS told me that I could aggressively bid DC with my grades/ties and if I hadn't been neurotic and added a bunch of NY screeners during add/drop, I'd be dangerously close to striking out right now. Lest you think I'm just a bad interviewer, my experience seems pretty representative: there are a lot of shell-shocked people walking around the Charles Hotel right now, and OCS confirms. The only people who seem to be doing OK in DC are those with more DSs than Ps. Unless you're lucky enough to fall into that category (and probably even if you do fall into that category), bid another market in addition to DC and/or take some screeners with "lesser" firms.

Cooley Boston ding. I'm curious whether others in the Boston circuit are doing okay, I am having similar experience to DC people. I have years of real world big law experience and two different OCS advisors have told me I'm a solid interviewer. But grades are mediocre, and apparently that's what matters. OCS really downplays the extent to which grades will f*ck you. I had maybe one or two (of 25+) interviews that were meh, the rest went quite well.

Agreed with the above on D.C. I know this will give me away to a few of my friends, but after doing 35 DC interviews this week, I sit on 1 callback as of right now.

Is D.C. typically this brutal or is this shaping up to be an especially rough year?

4:22 anon here-OCS says it's especially rough this year. Apparently DC firms are uncertain about their hiring needs because of all of the chaos in government and the resulting uncertainty in the legal/regulatory environment, so they're unexpectedly hiring fewer than normal. OCS has been hearing similar from their peers at other schools, too. You usually don't need to be feeder clerkship-competitive to get a CB at Wilmer DC.

I know this is a bad time on the thread to be posting this, given the D.C. sadness, but, for all my NY comrades out there, I report a Kirkland NY CB (DT)
