Anyone have any info on either of these offices. Interested in corporate work primarily. No real preferences within that.

You'll need top notch grades. Around top 30% non-California T14, didn't get offers from either.

OMM Century City had a bunch of their entertainment law people leave for Latham's new westside office a few years back, but OMM still seems to do a good amount of high stakes entertainment litigation out of that office. As the above poster said, you'll need top notch grades and good interviewing skills. OMM century city seems to have a particularly social/collegial vibe.

The founding partner of Sidley's CC office was a corporate partner in the DTLA office prior to starting that office last year. It's a smaller operation, but they've already got a good name around town.

Correct--a few of the Entertainment Partners left OMM for Latham in 2014. They are a good office for corporate work, though the SV office does a TON of corporate work. You can get most of this information by looking at the office website for people who work there.

I get the impression that OMM CC corporate has been dying, but that's mostly based on the departures and talking to a few laterals that left.

Concur. I've heard ominous stuff about the firm in general, but that could just be partners shit talking other firms.

How does Sidley LA and OMM compare to Latham and Skadden in re to corporate group?

If you didn't post anon, it's possible that an associate at one of those firms would be able to answer a question or two for you.

Also, to the point above: Sidley LA's new managing partner came from STB in Century City.

EDIT: SCOOPED. This is actually incorrect. The founding partner of the CC office came over from Simpson CC. Otherwise the Sidley CC office is a great place to work. I think its primarily M&A and real estate though. But I couldnt tell you how it compares to OMM.

Compare in terms of what?
Prestige, deals, quality of life, etc.

Latham and Skadden have massive offices and groups and have great prestige in LA for corporate. They do they front page deals and such.

Not sure about OMMs prestige in LA for corporate. Their SV office does the lion's share of corporate work for CA and is their main link to Asia work.

I know nothing about Sidley's corporate group.

The thing is that there are tons of other corporate groups out there that do great work that are missed. For example, a firm like Sheppard Mullin does A TON of middle market M&A for the size of their group. You'd get great experience and exposure working there, but it's not going to be the high profile deals like you'd see at Skadden.
