SLIP. Not sure what that means though. Knowing the government, it will take 2 weeks to process that.

Tax Division, Criminal Enforcement Section

Did anyone get an Honors Program interview with the Tax Division, Criminal Enforcement Section. I am applying next year and would like to know what they are looking for so if you could let me know a little about your background that would be great. Thanks!

Was this after they asked for your writing sample and transcript? How long ago did they ask, if they did?

No, they had asked for them in that same email.

If you wish to indicate your court location preferences, please complete and return the attached geographic preference sheet to me by COB on Friday, October 27, 2017.  Although OCIJ attempts to accommodate candidate location preferences, placement in a preferred location is not guaranteed."

Past employees, does this mean I'm a finalist? How many rounds of this are there? Does OCIJ actually interview (via phone or otherwise) or is selection based on submitted materials?

Got the same e-mail. Have the same question. Anyone?

Have you heard of any decisions made? I heard they were just trying to finish interviewing by Wednesday (that is what they told me)

SLIP: does anyone know what the offer timeline is? I know the website says November-February, but does anyone know anything more specific?

I interviewed with various Civ branches this week. Torts contacted references the next day.

By the looks of last year’s thread, offers started coming out Nov 15th. So about a week and a half after interviews ended. Statuses started to change to “finalist” the weekend immediately after interviews ended

Sorry, just realized you were asking for SLIP. I was definitely responding for HP.

HP -- Has anybody heard of reference calls happening post-interview from Civil Division branches? (other than Torts as mentioned above)

Did they ask during the interview or after?

Same person as above, just wanted to update those who are following timelines. Finished my Tax interview and my references have been contacted. During the interview, I was told that I would receive news soon, but not to worry if it didn't come immediately because of all the administrative clearances they have to go through.

I received an email confirming an interview from Civil (OIL-DCS) last week.

How many years is the commitment for Civil Appellate? The Honors website says offers will specify whether the position is permanent or time-limited. Some components state how long the commitment is for their positions, but Civil does not.

My understanding is that the positions in Civil are permanent without a time commitment. Do you already have an offer from Civil Appellate?

It is also my understanding that the positions are permanent with no time commitment. As a SLIP Intern in Civ last year, I watched a recent honors attorney leave for an AUSA position within 9 months of starting. And in my interviews this year for HP, a couple divisions asked me about my long term goals with emphasis that they want attorneys who plan to stay. The implication being, Civil honors attorneys don't have a commitment.

Hey HP applicants! My references contacted me today saying that they received reference requests from EOIR. I also had an interview with Civil, though. Anyone heard about reference requests from Civil (other than Torts)?
