Has any finalists for EOIR OGC or OCHAO ever been issued an offer or had their references checked?

I was selected as a finalist--but references have not been checked.

Re: DOJ Honors Program 2017-18
I wonder if any offers were issued for those not on this board because I would think by now references would have been chcecked being that both sections are only hiring one person and OCIJ which has a lot more offers has even began making offers.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Has any finalists for EOIR OGC or OCHAO ever been issued an offer or had their references checked?

If anyone hears about the non-OCOJ offices of EOIR making an offer or checking references I would love to know!

Is anyone here still waiting for an offer after being made a finalist for something besides OCIJ or should we assume if you do not have an offer yet for one of the other components we most likely will not be receiving one?

Me also. I wish more updates would get posted on Avue such as which components have made offers etc. I can't concentrate on much else.Anonymous User wrote:Seriously. I'm there with you. I don't know how much more of this I can take.Anonymous User wrote:The waiting is unbearable.

From Deana on Avue:
Tax Div met HP hiring goals
Greetings, all:
I just finished updating status for the Tax Division's Honors Program candidates. The Tax Division has met its hiring goals for both the Criminal Section and the Civil Section and will not issue any more offers.
Tax Division SLIP hiring is still in progress - I'll update that once they let me know the process is complete.
Best of luck, all.

Does anyone know if offers have gone out for specific courts, does that mean those courts are full? Or how do you offers go out?

It does not necessarily mean that the court is full as some larger courts hire multiple clerks. Generally, from past experience the longer it takes for you to receive an offer after offers start going out the larger more desired courts (in big cities) probably will be filled and you are more likely to not to get your first choices if they were all courts in big cities. But you may be surprised and wind up liking where you are placed even if it was not one of your preferred choices.Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know if offers have gone out for specific courts, does that mean those courts are full? my friend got an EOIR-OCIJ position cycle before last, and she got placed in a city not in her choices but one that she really enjoys and one that was nearby her first choice. if that helps..Anonymous User wrote:It does not necessarily mean that the court is full as some larger courts hire multiple clerks. My references still haven't been checked... Does that mean that I'm likely an alternate? How many offers do we think have gone out already?Anonymous User wrote:my friend got an EOIR-OCIJ position cycle before last, and she got placed in a city not in her choices but one that she really enjoys and one that was nearby her first choice. if that helps..Anonymous User wrote:It does not necessarily mean that the court is full as some larger courts hire multiple clerks.
