For what it's worth, I don't see anything wrong with it.
You don't see anything wrong with holding two 40-hour jobs at the same time?
Are you saying they would have to pay me overtime? I know know labor law.
Now it just seems like you're trolling: I'd hope that someone who's sincere would at least recognize that simultaneously holding two nominally full time jobs with two different employers isn't something that people generally do (at least if they don't need to).

Also, wage and hour laws are really an employment issue, not a labor (i.e. union) issue. But you probably know know that.

I've never taken employment or labor law, so I don't know under which category wage-and-hour laws like the FLSA fall. I would imagine, however, that law clerks fall under the "learned professional" exemption and, hence, are ineligible for overtime.

I found out that the federal gov't prohibits people with multiple appointments from working more than forty hours a week total.

Logistically, it could be done though (especially where one employer allows telecommuting), and I certainly have the drive.

Thanks for the info.

Logistically it would be horrifically bad and stupid to attempt. Two jobs, sure, but not when they're both 40 hours a week.

At least! Staff attorneys often have more flexibility than chambers clerks, but it's entirely possible that one or both of the judges would regularly ask for work that would put OP over 40.

This sounds like a fantastic way to piss off two judges at once. If that's your goal, by all means.
