The cougher had another horrible bout of coughing this afternoon and ended up going home "sick."

The commotion caused by the coughing this afternoon was minor when compared to what has happened in the past; however, rumor has it that any time there are serious coughing fits the cougher can take the remainder of the day off work to deal with it as it causes too much disruption in the office.

Thank you so much for keeping us posted! I admit to checking this thread once a week or so for the express purpose of finding an update on the cougher or another similar anecdote from another member/victim of "the [legal] profession."

I thought I would bump this thread to share the news that all coughing, hacking, and sneezing has been non-existent for a few weeks now. Rumor has it that they Cheezit binge eating has also disappeared. We are all hopeful that this will now become the new normal.

i guessed it would end, like most great american stories, in death or a wrongful termination lawsuit.

I have thought about doing both. I think there is a lot of potential for a Netfilx or HBO series here. Maybe one season and done.

There is another coughing bout occurring. As others in the office have pointed out, the cougher is very aware of the noises he is making and is trying his best to muffle or reduce the sound. It sound like this:

"mufff.....muffff......muuuffff.....muff...muff...mufff...muff...muf..muff........muuuufffffffffffffff.....muf,muf,muf,muf,muf,muf.......MUUUHHHMMMPPP."

One month from the last fit and on a full moon... Perhaps his anti-werewolf transformation meds have side-effects?

Quick update on the cougher:

I don't see much of the cougher anymore. He is still employed, but has been relocated to a different portion of the office. However, there are now complaints coming from the people in the area in which he was relocated to.

I have a co-worker who has been coughing for at least 2 years. Our supervisor says she has talked to her and she is not sick. It sounds like she's choking sometimes, the cough is so deep. Some days are worse than others...sometimes she coughs every 30 seconds. She has asthma but claims there is nothing she can do for the coughing. It's extremely distracting and it has adversely affected my work. I do wonder if something is wrong with her besides the asthma. I do have friends and family who have asthma who say the only time they cough like that is while they're sick. I would ask to be moved but there's no where else to go!

I don't think many people actually realize how distracting and frustrating it can be to have to deal with this. It without a doubt adversely affects the work of many people around this person.

A situation occurred in the office today. It was believed that the cougher was actually choking on something, but he was actually just choking on water that he had drank to try and help with a coughing spell he was having. Some co-workers heard the commotion and ran to render aid. Apparently they were ready to administer the Heimlich maneuver.
