OP here, I'm very confused by this post. Are you giving insight into big law in a major market in particular, or are you speaking about working at Debevoise? anecdotal so I don't know; First year and I work big-law in a secondary market. I'm usually out of the office by 5-6 each day, maybe do some work from home if necessary - right now my annualized hours trend is towards 2100 (which is above the billable requirement). Talked to a LS buddy who works Major Market and he was working regularly past 9pm that month. Not sure if that's the exception or the norm. Does he like it? His words on how it was going: "Sucks... Absolutely terrible." Can't say this is b/c of the work, b/c of the people, because of the hours, or something else. So take it all with a grain of salt.
