Just got my DLA Piper ding. Came after emailing them yesterday about the status of my application (it'd been 3 weeks since my interview.)

Any ATT news from any locations? I know Verizon is making decisions based on the video interviews of who they want to bring in for Super Day. I was told it'd be about two weeks more of waiting.

Making it public and allowing edits (similar to law school admissions sheets) would be excellentAnonymous User wrote:Can we make an anonymous spreadsheet that includes people's schools, rankings and offers?

Re: 1L diversity summer associate positions
For those of you with offers, do you have any advice for call-backs? How to turn them into an offer?
I have had a few call-backs but I've been rejected from all of them, I don't know what I am doing wrong.

Re: 1L diversity summer associate positions
I have an offer from the biggest firm in my city. So my advice is this: it's deeper than grades and school. I am not a t14 nor am I in the top 10 percent of my class. You need to be likeable. Period.Anonymous User wrote:For those of you with offers, do you have any advice for call-backs? How to turn them into an offer?

1. If you know someone that works there, talk to them. But don't talk to them to get the job only. Talk to them like a friend.
2. If you know a professor who knows someone who works there, have them talk to them. Only do this if your professor likes you. No, loves you. My professor pulled strings because I was one of her fav students. Your professors know people despite what their field is.
3. The interviewers can tell when someone is bsing a personality vs showing a real one. Be natural. I can't tell you how many law students believe they are good interviewers and good at networking because naturally they've been good at a lot of stuff before when they're not. It's so obvious when people are forcing it. They're trying to see if you fit. Getting a callback means assume on PAPER you're already good enough. Now are you likeable enough to pay you a six figure salary for the summer?
4. FOLLOW UP. after the interview yes but don't just sit around and wait for an answer. Tell them you want that job

Re: 1L diversity summer associate positions
Had about 8 callback requests, did three of them, and got all three. Two in local market and one with V100 firm. T-20, Top 10% I think the most important thing is personality. As was said before, you already passed the paper test. This is to see what you are like as a person. Are you someone they could work with on a late Thursday night? Try to be personable. At the same time, try to mirror your interviewer's tone. Some people will be very casual, so only be robotic and force prephrased answers. Others will ask you generic interview questions, so give those well-hearsed answers. Also, send thank you notes to everyone, and don't send generic ones. Show that you payed attention, mention specifics. Show that you really want it. Finally, be too hard on yourself if you don't get that one position that you think would lead to your dream job. There is a bit of luck involved and you are competing with other well qualified students. Do the best you can do.

Re: 1L diversity summer associate positions
Be a normal human being. Don't stress--it would make you an awkward person. Don't fake personality. Prepare a lot of small talks and a lot of questions. Show interest in the firm, but do not appear like you're desperate to get any job. Sometimes it's not your fault; the competition is just fierce.Anonymous User wrote:For those of you with offers, do you have any advice for call-backs? How to turn them into an offer?
