Waiting to hear back from federal job - got a different offer?

Post by Anonymous User » Tue Sep 20, 2016 9:37 pm

I am waiting to hear back whether I got a federal attorney job - I could hear tomorrow or a month from now, who knows. I think an offer may be forthcoming from another job I also interviewed for. If I receive an offer from that job, is that even something I could contact the federal agency with to see if they are going to hire me or not? Or will they just laugh and tell me I have to keep waiting to hear back from them one way or another?

No, but if the offer came from job #2 (they have checked my references), I was going to ask for it to be put into writing.

It doesn't hurt to try, but chances are the federal agency will absolutely not care.

Your options will likely come down to accepting that offer. And then if you get an offer from the Feds, deciding whether to bail on previous offers.
