I heard these guys: http://larsonobrienlaw.com are super busy. They have impressive lawyers and the two rainmakers have big books. It's obviously a little riskier than the typical vault firm, since it's basically a startup. But if you're single, looking for something new, and interested in getting in on the ground floor, this might be a good spot for you.

I have a kid and a big form offer, so this doesn't work for me. But I'd be excited to apply otherwise.

Are they even hiring? Honestly I have a lot of republican ties and would consider applying, but I see nowhere where it looks like they want young attorneys.

Bro, I don't know. I have no tie to the firm. I'm not a summer, so the third hand suggestion that I should apply doesn't shed much light on whether they want summers. I just know they're in LA, their two head guys seem impressive to me, and I heard that they are busy.

But why not shoot an email and see where it gets you.

emailed the firm this morning re: 2L SA. They said NOPE!

I'm op. I'm not an internal promoter for these guys. I'm just a guy that was encouraged to apply there for the reasons I stated in my op. I didn't because startups are less stable in my opinion than going to a big name Biglaw firm. But, as a long time TLS poster, I figured it would be nice to pass this along. There used to be an open positions-type thread that I found helpful. I'm sorry that my attempt to help was misperceived as promotion.


Married with a kid has to do with my risk appetite. I'd be interested in getting in on the ground floor if I only had me to worry about. But I don't. So Biglaw here I come.


I was encouraged to email the managing partner to apply. I didn't. But maybe you can. I agree that their website could use work.

Jesus fucking Christ. Because I was talking about my family and communications I had with real people and in real life. Because I have hundreds of posts in the employment and clerkship forums and it's getting pretty fucking easy to identify me. I'm frankly a little fucking annoyed that people are second guessing me for a post I did that won't help me even a little bit and may hopefully help someone in the TLS community. God forbid that someone try to direct someone to a potential job opportunity on here instead of doing another "what are my chances" thread or another "should I take X firm or Y firm" thread.

They have posted many helpful things here across the years that they've had an account here, and there's no reason they should feel obligated to link a real-life conversation by which they could be identified with their account here. When a poster is anon it might not be immediately obvious that any information is potentially revealing unless it's considered in combination with many of the poster's other posts. Anon abuse is when people are doing stupid or jackass things and hiding behind anon to mask them from the shame of being a fuckhead. This is not anon abuse, jesus christ.
