While not "during" callbacks per se, I'd say do not send an e-mail to every LS alumnus at the target firm and ask for "tips" or "advice" before your interview. If you feel compelled to do so, don't send an identical e-mail to each person. We talk and it gives you a reputation as "that person" even before you sit down for your interview. Happens every year.

On a constructive note, I'd recommend the following if you want to contact someone at the firm before your callback. Reach out to 1 or 2 associates to introduce yourself and ask if they have time for a quick call sometime that week to discuss their experiences. Be cool and have intelligent, varied questions for each person. Close with reiterating how excited you are for the interview and thank them for their time. They'll likely ask who you're interviewing with and you'll have a chance to gauge their reactions. I've hit it off with a couple people in this scenario and both times passed word to certain friends/interviewers that we talked and I thought they were cool. Coincidentally, both still work here.
