Offer Response
Do I actually have to respond to offers (thru voicemail) at this point? Like an email to recruiting or to the partner who called to politely say thanks? Not trying to accept, just hold it.

Yes. NALP guidelines allow firms to revoke offers that have not been confirmed within 14 days.

Sorry, I meant to say I'm not trying to accept the offer, just asking if I have to acknowledge it in some way eg email to recruitingzot1 wrote:Just call and say thanks, I accept.

Oh you did say that. Did they specify a timeline for you already? If so, you don't really have to respond but beware they can revoke.Anonymous User wrote:Sorry, I meant to say I'm not trying to accept the offer, just asking if I have to acknowledge it in some way eg email to recruitingzot1 wrote:Just call and say thanks, I accept.
If no timeline, I would email the recruiter.

Acknowledge the offer, then snail mail them a rejection

And make sure to mess up the zip code so it gets lost and shows up six months after they have moved on. Also, I believe it is customary to use the bracketed name [firm] whenever you reference their name in the letter.estefanchanning wrote:Acknowledge the offer, then snail mail them a rejection

Re: Offer Response
I've been emailing the recruiter (maybe with the interviewer CC'd in if we've been in contact) to say that I want to affirm my interest/ keep the offer open. Of course, be gracious about having received the offer.

or just call and tell them you do not want to work there, so spots open for others.Effingham wrote:And make sure to mess up the zip code so it gets lost and shows up six months after they have moved on. I'd like to know the answer to OP's question.
It's a lot less irritating than those "Help me choose among Wachtell, Cravath, Davis Polk, SullCrom..." threads--which also needlessly employ anon.

Re: Offer Response
Not OP, but I have a similar question. I acknowledged the offer when the recruiter called me, but I never responded to the actual offer letter email. Do I need to do that too?
