Re: 2016 OCI Strike-Out Thread
I just wanted to wish you guys good luck and tell you it is way too early to worry about striking out. MM your asses off and hopefully something will come. To give perspective, I legitimately struck out with top 10% and law review from a T1. I say legitimately struck out because I didn't land an internship at a small firm until May. I managed to land a job with a V50 during 3L year. I start there in a few weeks. My point is that you shouldn't freak out yet. It's ridiculously early and most of my friends that ended up with good jobs did not land them until Sept. Hang in there and keep grinding.

My god it's bad. I'm the OP for ''what the hell is going on''.
IN a way, nice to know it's not just me, but lots of T14'ers are struggling. Comforting, but still blows.

Yale poster: I started mostly DC because CDO assured me that I was DC secure with my grades. After Tuesday I started adding a bunch of NY firms.

T2 top 10% transferred to T-14. 14 OCI screeners.
Pretty sure struck out with NY firms already. Hoping for secondary markets.

Well fuck. This thread is making me really fucking nervous. I am no where near HYS not even t-14...... shit grades. I am basically fucked right? I swear though it was not like this last year. What is different?? Did something happen in the market that I am unaware of?

Top 25% outside of t14 should expect an "okay" chance @ biglaw, but yeah bad grades + non-t14 hasn't been a comfortable spot to be in since the 80s.Anonymous User wrote:Well fuck. To add to that, good grades at a t14 don't mean much if you don't interview well. Big law firms have an enormous pool of qualified candidate to choose from. They're not going to select someone that can't pull themselves together for an interview and hold a conversation for twenty minutes.Atmosphere wrote:Top 25% outside of t14 should expect an "okay" chance @ biglaw, but yeah bad grades + non-t14 hasn't been a comfortable spot to be in since the 80s.Anonymous User wrote:Well fuck. Is JD/MBA at a T20 a good fallback if strike out?

Depends. Might mean a second shot at OCI. But also means more debt. And the firms may remember you.Anonymous User wrote:Is JD/MBA at a T20 a good fallback if strike out?

You will land a clerkship with a coa judge and are in contention for feeder and Scotus if you keep your grades up. You will get a v20 lit even if you strike out this year so relax. With your grade/school combination, you have a better shot at getting a v10 eventually (maybe not immediately) than at least a quarter of hls who get offers this year.Anonymous User wrote:Not sure if I'm allowed to join, but I'm at Yale with all Hs, and my only call back is at a non-market paying firm in a secondary market. It's not even holding a conversation for 20 min. You can literally script at least half of it, if not more, because they will be typical questions you should see coming (why law school, why us, favorite class, describe some legal work you have done, etc.)Anonymous User wrote:To add to that, good grades at a t14 don't mean much if you don't interview well. It's awkward AF but I really recommend video taping yourself giving answers to common questions.

Stay hopeful. Got 2 callbacks today, a full week after OCI ended.

This is either flame, or you're literally masturbating in interviews.Anonymous User wrote:Not sure if I'm allowed to join, but I'm at Yale with all Hs, and my only call back is at a non-market paying firm in a secondary market.
