I heard about an interview with the NLRB's honors program recently. Anyone have advice on interviewing with the NLRB honors program?

Can anyone fill me in on how pay raises work in the non-DOJ honors programs? I know that the DOJ is very clear on their website about how long it takes to go from GS-12 to GS-13 to GS-14. Do other agencies follow the same timeline more or less? Or do most go slower? Thinking of DOL specifically, but I imagine this is relevant for everyone.

Most agencies promote you to the next grade after one year in grade. So, for example, after one year as a GS-12, you can be promoted to GS-13.

In theory, you can be promoted all the way to GS-15 that way. But, some offices don't have GS-15 allocations for everyone. Meaning, you could be at an office where GS-13 is the highest you can go.

Your supervisor has a lot of control on your promotion. So unless you're in a career ladder position (where your promotions are specified), if your supervisor doesn't want to promote you to the next level after 12 months in grade, they technically could.

I work for the gov in an InfoSec role. The positions most of us are in range up to 15, but effectively they cap each team to having 2 people @ 15 (the team I am on has a little over a dozen people, 2 are 15s everyone else is @14). The more senior of the two has suggested he will retire in ~5 years. It seems unlikely that anyone on this team will be getting a promotion in the near future.

Was it an actual offer or just inquiring about your interest in the event of a subsequent offer?

Unfortunately, I don't have any additional information to share. And unclear. Our conversation was extremely brief, given a miscommunication about my acceptance of employment elsewhere and subsequent withdrawal of my application from consideration.

Because I received a call and an offer (duh). Have to decide by next Tuesday.
