I got my offer about a week after the callback. Their hiring is really conservative since their summer program is small. When you hear will probably depend on people accepting/ declining the offersAnonymous User wrote:Anyone heard from Shearman SV/SF?

Anyone know if Fenwick/Cooley/WSGR are full? I've got some outstanding CB's, and want to know whether I've been dinged. I can't find any info on their callback --> offer timeline

Random question - does anyone know the relative strength of NY firms such as Davis Polk/Simpson/Weil relative to Cooley/WSGR in the valley? Do they do diff work?

It's not. They just emailed me to do a phone screener on Friday (I declined since I have already accepted at another firm).Anonymous User wrote:Does anyone know if the Shearman SF/SV class is full?

I can't speak to relative strengths, but they do different work. My insight only comes from CBs and general research but Cooley, WSGR, MoFo etc are much more emerging company/VC focused. They have general corporate practices as well. My impression is that the NY firms basically brought their NY practice to the Valley, i.e. they are still doing M&A and cap markets work. They generally do not do startup work at all. Again this could vary among the firms I didn't visit, but it was my experience.Anonymous User wrote:Random question - does anyone know the relative strength of NY firms such as Davis Polk/Simpson/Weil relative to Cooley/WSGR in the valley? My impressions are also from talking to people. I would say given the choice, I would work at Cooley/WSGR over the firms you listed. The offices you listed all do one or two things very very well. DPW is very strong in capital markets. They can (supposedly) handle more sophisticated matters than WSGR or Cooley. STB is very very good at PE fund work. They handle work for Silverlake which is very active in the valley. Weil I don't know much about but I am told they have a very strong M&A practice.Anonymous User wrote:I can't speak to relative strengths, but they do different work. However, for someone who wants to be more of a generalist, a Cooley or a Wilson would be a better fit. They have a large presence in all of the above (with the exception of PE, although Cooley has strong VC relationships).

Re: San Francisco / Silicon Valley 2016 Thread
Two people at my school had an offer there (both declined) and apparently a third might be sitting on one now. Their summer class is small, if you want to work there and would unequivocally accept an offer there I would definitely let them know...Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone accepted at Shearman SV/SF or is anyone sitting on an offer?Anonymous User wrote:Anyone heard from Shearman SV/SF?
