It is not so easy to decide but more 'nope' than 'yes'.

In re to biglaw being terrible comments:
"There's an old joke - um... two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know; and such small portions." Well, that's essentially how I feel about life - full of loneliness, and misery, and suffering, and unhappiness, and it's all over much too quickly."

well now that's just crazy.
I wouldn't trade 5 years though. anything under maybe 3 and I would give it serious thought

A lot harder to say yes when you have a family... maybe i'd be willing at this stage to trade 5 years at the end of my life for the security an extra million would give me at this stage, but I'm sure I'd regret it when my grand kids come along etc.

I think this would fit a x^2 pretty well. 1 year for 1 mil. 3 years would need 9 mil. 5 would be 25 mil. 5 years for 1 mil is insane. Contemplating 3 for 1 mil is... ill-advised, JD.

I mean if I have no income then sure a month. But if I'm making at least 42k or more a year, I wouldn't give a month for 1 mil. I'd probably give 2 weeks per 1 mil.

Im still not understanding how you wouldn't trade 1 month and 3.5k pre tax dollars for $1 mil post tax dollars. Your sentient presence can't possibly be that valuable.

My crippling fear of death, and avoiding anything that moves me closer to it... it wasn't really some logical weightlifting I was doing

Pre-spouse, I'd consider it. Doubt it now. But even considering it, lots of unanswered questions. But do I now have a 5-year gap on my resume? Are my student loans all in default and my credit fucked because I hadn't been paying them off for 5 years? Am I homeless because I haven't paid rent on my apartment for 5 years?

I'm just here to say I'm happy to see most TLSers have picked no.
