I am 1 3L; worked at a law firm during my 1L summer; but didn't get my memo for a writing sample. So I have two options: either 1L writing class memo (9 pages) or casually written (meaning, didn't follow bluebook citation rules) article (1500 words) for my journal, which was published only online.
Would 1L writing class memo still be OK for job application?
Which writing sample should I use for job application? Forum

I would use 1L writing memo since presumably you spent a lot of work on it. Would also review it again since your writing should have gotten better since.
You always want to submit a sample of your best work. A casually written article with no BB citations doesn't seem to be it.
