3.4 at P - Bidlist?

Anyone have any advice on firms to bid/target? I have a bidlist that will get reviewed but thought to crowdsource too. Looking for straight litigation. NY and a tiny bit of DC is the plan.

What is Penn's curve?

doesn't Penn place like 70% of its class in fed clerkships or biglaw these days?

Penn's curve is between 3.2-3.3 so I'm approximately top 1/3 maybe a tad lower. Thinking Skadden, Latham etc based on our OCI info but not sure about everything else.

I did OCI in 2013 with just barely below a B+ and bid Philly and NYC V10-V100 and wound up with 23 screeners, 4 NYC callbacks, and 2 offers (and I cancelled the other 2 CBs). You can go crazy over the bidding but I don't know of anyone who didn't feel like they had enough screeners as a result of their bidding, and the kids who decide early will give up their interview spots that you can pick up later on in the week, so you can accumulate more if you need. I would avoid the notoriously grade-snobby firms, but otherwise you're really not precluded from much, so try to prioritize the firms you like that have fewer interview spots. More NYC is probably safer, as it seemed DC is pickier (at least it was in 2013). There were a few kids who struck out, but they were pretty randomly spread out and it didn't seem to come down to grades. Overall you're in a good position though, you should feel good going into OCI.

I had a 3.3 going into OCI last year and bid a mix of Philly/NYC V10-V50 (and Cleary) with a sprinkling of D.C./outside markets and did fine. 29 screeners, 8 CBs (including Cleary), 4 offers. You should be fine.

1. Firms that went to 180k (especially look at early movers)

2. Everyone else

3. CovingTTTon

Same anon here. And don't sleep on the resume collects either. I got 3 phone screeners through those, and the offer I accepted came from a resume collect. I think conventional Penn wisdom is that those don't yield much, but I would still look into those.

Sn: How many firms do you all think won't match by OCI? I would imagine even CovingTTTon would come around by then.

How do we know that median at P is 3.2-3.3? According to the 1L curve, half the grades are B+ or above. The median over 7 classes should then remain at a B+.

If I'm wrong (which seems likely) please tell me!

sry to hijack. with roughly a 3.55, where am I on the curve? top 25%?

I know cravath & S&C are out, are Skadden/Simpson/Cleary still in play? Heard from others that my grades are borderline for Skadden.

Is this a serious question? I can't believe it is.

It is, I'm asking because I'm K-JD, with a shitty 1L summer job, and sub-par interviewer etc. I'm not sure how far that GPA will get me. Is it enough that I just bid whatever I want or should I focus on the grade-focused firms to help ameliorate the other negatives.
WTF? Dude, you should be fine. Barring something disastrous happening (being just completely socially inept or something) you'll be fine. You can work on your interviewing; CP&P can help with that. As long as your 1L job is something legal-related, no one really gives a fuck. Just bid smart and you'll be good.

If you're only targeting NYC, then I would bid v-5 down the board (with Skadden as possible exception).
