First Day of SA in NYC Forum

Getting pretty nervous (but excited too) about starting my SA in NYC in a few weeks. What can I expect the first day to be like?

It might honestly just be IT training/HR stuff and you meeting the rest of your summer class, with a lunch and maybe night event thrown in.

Perma SA would be like the literal ultimate job. Work a few hours every day, walk around the office chatting with friends all day, and go out party every night. Plus luxury meals and random days off work to go to baseball games. fuhhhhhh

I know. Gearing up for a full summer of being shit broke and studying for the bar is the actual worst compared to last summer.

Expect to be given a nickname that will stick with you for the rest of your career.

9-930 - Breakfast and thumb through some various handbook stuff, shoot shit w/ other summers
930-1030 - Welcome speech from recruiting/managing partner/someone
1030-1115 - Firm tour, maybe find and sit in your office
1115-1130 - Break
1130-1230 - Some lecture on something, probably like intro the firm practice groups and assignment system
1230-230 - Lunch with associates
230-300 - Break
300-500 - Another lecture on something, probably something boring like insider trading, confidentiality, social media behavior, etc
500--??? - Chill people will leave, most will sit in their office and pretend to have something to do despite not having assignments yet, your firm may have a happy hour in here at some point
