Anyone know anything about 'em? Starting salary, culture, healthy/struggling?

I know a partner at LB in Dallas. She says the firm is exceptionally skeptical of hiring 1st year associates. She specifically advocates against it. I don't know much about their culture outside of Dallas, but you're significantly more likely to lateral into this firm, from what I've been told. Granted, this was merely one partner and a couple of the Dallas associates.

^^^ Could explain why there is such limited information on a firm with over 900 Attorneys.

Bump. Any info on this firm would be helpful, particularly as it relates to the LA office.

Cannot speak to LA office, but I know that they essentially give free reign to the managing partner of each branch regarding associate salary (I've seen some branches start at 85K, some start at 105K...it varies), bonuses, etc. I also know that it is up to the managing partner of each branch as to whether or not to hire first year associates. That being said, most don't.
As far as culture goes, that's a bit more uniform across the branches. They try to keep the offices and atmosphere pretty similar across the branches. It's not really BigLaw b/c it's mostly insurance defense, so you don't have the BigLaw atmosphere (good and bad, up to your interpretation), but you also don't have the BigLaw salary.
I'm sure their bigger offices, like LA, Sacramento, etc. are more willing to hire first-year associates than the smaller offices in the other markets. Hope this could be of any help.
sources: personal connections to several smaller market managing partners of Lewis Brisbois.

I have been told it's basically biglaw hours for half the money, which sounds inauspicious.

Not a desirable firm, but better than nothing

I plan to apply here, along with other firms. Is this firm still biglaw hours at half pay? Can anyone chime in?

I spoke to an attorney there a couple of years ago. I was told billable target of 1850. she also cut her hours. my memory might be hazy so someone who works there should feel free to correct me.
