What are you guys thinking about Cadwalader? I'm a bit scared from everything I've heard on TLS.

Re: Cadwalader Offers
Negative rumors about a law firm's QOL are probably impossibly hard to shake because at best, big law is still really long hours and little predictability. I imagine if a firm once had a particularly bad QOL and has now gone back to the norm for other big law firms, the reputation is going to stay around longer than the actual culture, because associates who are already working long hours aren't going to be particularly motivated to defend their firm/tell people that their law firm isn't worse than other law firms.
The best way to find out whether CWT is particularly bad is to ask laterals, or people who have spent time with another firm. Most people I spoke to who had been at another firm said that it was equally bad, or equally good, as your average NYC big law firm, depending on their general feelings towards biglaw as a whole.

Re: Cadwalader Offers
The DC office seems legitimately chill. No billable requirement and people supposedly bill on average in the mid 1700s. Seems more like a 3 practice boutique than a full service office, so that structure probably defines the character to a great extent. Can't comment on NY at all, other than that the DC associates and counsel I met said only some of the negative things mentioned on Vault are even accurate any more.

Feel free to reach out to recruiting--they will be happy to help. But, yeah, last year it was business causal.Anonymous User wrote:Offer dinner... do people know if its business casual?

Re: Cadwalader Offers
I really don't think it's worse than the average NYC biglaw firm. I believe the really bad QoL rep was largely derived from one partner who is no longer there. The non-NYC offices are also better/more chill (although at least in Charlotte you're probably still going to be working a lot).
