CVBroadcast for Non-OCI firms? Forum

I'm a 2L at a mid-tier law school which doesn't have many options for OCI. I'm trying to land a summer associate job with any large firm basically and I'm thinking about using CVBroadcast to apply to firms outside of our OCI, which is many. I heard of few people at my school get interviews this way, and I'm curious if firms are receptive to non-OCI applications. I figure I don't have much to lose. Any thoughts or guidance is appreciated

Not sure what CVBroadcast is, but you don't need any special tools to apply to firms not attending your school's OCI, and you should already be doing so. Dozens if not hundreds of times.

Thank you, and I agree. I guess CVBroadcast is helpful because it has all the firms in one place and can apply to those hundreds of firms at once. I would probably die trying to apply to that many firms one by one. But I think it makes sense to put as many feelers out as possible.

I agree that the more places you apply the better your chances are, particularly if you want to work at a large firm coming from a mid-tier law school. The disparity between the top 15 law schools and the rest for OCIs is pretty unreal.

I think a key strategy is to get in the door by at large firms by applying to satellite offices in smaller cities where they get less applicants. I have a friend that worked at Foley in Madison, WI then transferred to New York after 2 years. I took a look at cvbroadcast and it looks like you can apply to every large law firm, so maybe just circulate your resume as much as you can that way. That's what I'm actually thinking about doing.

Looks to be a time saver. I know going on each firm website is extremely time consuming. Seems like it should at least be worth a try. If you haven't had success through other avenues, I say go for it. Higher level of competition, more applicants, probably best to apply anywhere and everywhere possible.
